Yeah I know it's fantasy and not real, but there are real aspects so I would think it has to be based upon some region.

I'm guessing Czechoslovokia/Austria, because it is very mountainous and there are steppe/mongol bandits.

It actually has a lot of Turkish influence, including medieval turkish armor designs and stuff. Other than that, it seems sort of like a class fantasy.

I see a little hun influence(kergit raiders) and the sea raiders seem vikingish.

It's just a mix of a lot of things.

Best way to do it, IMHO. All the most interesting bits of medieval warfare, all in the same place at the same time.

I'd say the place has a north-eastern european feel to it maybe in modern Germany or Poland.

My take on the factions (apart from the Turkish influence) is that the Khergit and Vaegir forces are the huns invading from central asia and the Sea Raiders are obviously Norse-inspired. The Dark Hunters are almost teutonic knights and the Swadians seem to be more Western-Europe/French. In this sort of scenario Zendar would be Switzerland with their unique mercenary peasants.

Wow... I never thought of it that way.

But if this is Northern Eastern Europe, then why is the Scimitar there?

The Scimitar is generally accepted as a middle-eastern weapon.
