Where do you put your food?

When I started playing first I just left all my food at the top where ever the ctrl click put it but soon after I started having to keep more than one type I started to get a little more picky about my placement. Otherwise I have have the top 9 or so slots full of food which means I'm scrolling down to sell stuff.
Next method for about 50-60 troops->
All food goes at the bottom with my books and alternate weapons/ammo and a couple of pack horses as a dividing line between my food and whatever I'm looting. Nice thing being I know when I'm missing a food type as their is a hole in my lower inventory.
Then army gets to about 100 ->
Food at bottom, then dividing line of books and weapons then another layer of food as I try to keep two of each and when the top one runs out I move the bottom one up above the dividing line when I buy more. Means I rarely run out of any food type bar honey which I sometimes keep 3 off as it's so hard to find.

Just curious if this is an OCD thing or does everyone have a similar method?

Food is always at the bottom right below my pack horses, because I don't find myself moving a lot or more then the weaponry and armor in my inventory.

very bottom, pack horses (usually 6 so 2 lines)
after that each line for one food type (so 3 of each carried at all times)
this means my inventory is pretty stuffed, but it seems to be needed for the freaking morale..

Since we're on the topic of inventory - why is it that when I have a party member with the inventory management skill, I notice NO change in my inventory?

If you looked at the Inventory skill, it is a Leader skill. That means it doesn't matter if your companions has a 10 Inventory Management skills, it won't affect your skill.

Heroes used to have an inventory like the player (I think they still do deep down in the code, but it just isn't visible anymore). Extra horses in the Heroes' inventories used to help negate the weight penalties of you inventory items.

I have six Saddle Horses at the bottom, then three food items and three extra weapons (Balanced Short Spear, a blunt weapon, and an extra shield). I never deviate from this.

Only three food items? you playing a charsima based character? or all horsed units and lots of fights all the time to keep up moral?

I keep my food at the top. That way, I'm forced to see it every time I open my inventory, and notice if I'm getting low.

Am I absent-minded? Maybe, but my men never starve. (... often.)

Balanced Shortened Spear is a great weapon, can be effective on horseback against other light cavalry and infantry (at closer ranges than other spears) and still useful anti-cav defence for an infantryman. Plus it looks cool.

As for the food organisation, with 30 or more troops I usually have at least 4-6 slots that I try to keep full. Like Rhedd though, I keep my stuff at the top so I can check it easily. I usually have 2 or 3 spare weapons on the top line, 6 food below that, then 3 or 6 horses. Below the horses is where any loot or trade goods go, so I don't accidentally sell weapons that I have bought myself or food that I plan to feed my troops with.

At the top. I always watch my food supplies. Every competent commander should, in my opinion.

I keep my food supplies at the top with my pack horses at the bottom. I too forget about the food if it's at the bottom.

I just change the food amounts to about 200. I don't like the food micromanagement  Then I don't have to worry too often. As it is, you could NEVER starve out castle defenders with 100 of your own men, 10 Inventory Management, and a full inventory of food. You'd always have to break off the siege for more food even with the maximum ideal conditions that the game allows. And forget about starving out a city. They have 100 days worth of food.

Woah there...
Mind letting me in on your secrets?
I am looking at the item_kinds1.txt, and i see the entries for foods... Do i just change that item third from the end? Or is it closer to the front?

Also, what do the others mean >.< 34144267? 72? 15.0000000? I assume one of these is the type, one is the morale bonus... *shrug* whatever it is, doesnt really matter i guess.

I keep my food at the top, so that I can easily see when I'm running out every time I open my inventory. The top six item slots are occupied by one set of spare arrows and four food items.

i just drop everything at my inv, but i put wheat in chests in castles for qeusts. i don't need packhorses in my inv. if i wanne go faster i simply add more knights (or diffrent horseman) in my party.

Chicken, Sausage, and Pork all go together on one line. Likewise with Butter, Honey, and Cheese. Color coordination is very important to the feng shui of the army baggage train.
