I guess "it's done when it's done" as the usual mantra goes. Giving a specific release date and being unable to keep it always frustrates a gaming community more than simply not fixing a date and just releasing it whenever it's good to go.
Also I doubt the level 6 limit (if that is what you are refereing to with the maximum level) will be changed with a new version - it's enough to get people hooked on this great game, and the license isn't expensive anyways. As there's no upgrade fee or anything like that you don't have to wait for the new version to register, if you were concerned about that.
