What's YOUR ratio? (Militia to Garrison?)

Please share what works best for you for Militia 2 Garrison ratios, in towns & castles, and maybe the mix of troops that works best for you when defending.

I don't even use a ratio. I've been thinking of the militia as just icing on a cake. I've been trying to keep some high end bowmen and sharpshooters in my castles/cities. Lots of them. I also try to have a ton of infantry. These range from peasants and lepers all the way to sergeants and legionaries. I'm planning on making my own kingdom soon and breaking my allegiance to that cheat King Derthert. I just conned the council into taking Ocs Hall away from a prestigious Lord and giving it to me.
What I've been doing is not only pumping my own troops from my army into the city garrison but also all of my followers' troops into the garrison as well.
I don't know if the ratio of militia vs garrisoned troops really matter but I've currently got around 350 militia and 550 garrisoned troops in said city.

I haven't been doing a ratio either. Like Joe Friday I'm struggling to just fill my only castle on current play through with quality troops to its max capacity to keep enemies deterred from attacking it.

Yeah 5 minutes after getting my 1st castle in my last game 600 people attacked me. I won and 5 days later another 700 attacked me. All from Vlandia. Pretty annoying, had no time to get any militia or impressive garrison installed! Roar.

Having a city with a garrison full of high tier champion fians for example is very expensive. But it keeps almost every attacker away and even trying to besiege the town most likely ends in leaving anyway without even trying to attack properly. I do have like 7 caravans though to pay for my 100 champion fians and other elite troops(i think its around 6k each day just for the garrison)

What about FOOD Though? I have such a hard time with food for maintaining a garrison. It scares me ****less - do you only garrison towns / castles 'behind' the lines, where there is less mayhem and more stability (and so food supply???)

PS: I have literally, 0 garrison in 9 fiefs of my own, but full militia. Im on the beta branch - are you having food issues as well?

I added like 80-100 archer units to my garrisons in the towns/castles I've owned in my campaigns. If I add more than that I always get that food "bug" and the garrison will starve. Honestly the only reliant way to defend your fiefs right now is to stay close to them when at war.

Personally I at least so far have managed to get around this by going around the continent and buying out the supply of every food item there is and hauling it back to my settlement and dumping it there. The food bonus is very high now, however prosperity is rising like crazy and I am unsure if it sustainable.

So if I sell a lot of grains, salted meats etc to the settlements they will be able to sustain themselves during periods of extended war?

Frontline castles 500
Frontline cities 900
Core castles 400
Core cities 500

These numbers are only for fiefs I care about, everything else I leave militia only or give to my vassals.
Bannerlord Tweaks installed and it affects the quality&quantity of militia and I only care about the numbers, not the ratio.

It boosts the overall food production value of the city, you can hover over the food icon at the top to see the bonus per turn provided by each resource.

0 garrison in every castle and town beocouse

1) Towns and castles are pointless.
2) Garrisons will just starve aot.
3) Allies are very good to defend against sieges.

175 garrisons units in castle and 300 in cities. Sometimes more for castles near ennemies.

This is with bannerlord tweak mod because it's nearly impossible with food supply.
In my other game half my full élites garrisons starve while I wasn't here...
Don't like playing with such mods but it's impossible atm.

but don't caravans just come and purchase it back???

Right now the game AI just wants to constantly attack. This while playing on the realistic settings anyway. Its the only difficulty I been playing so far. The odd thing is that often a army will come along and siege but then stop and move on for no reason. Not really smart of the enemy AI but its nice when it does happen. Especially when my garrison is heavily outnumbered. At some point TW will get it all sorted out and balanced. Right now its just a work in progress.

I don't use garrisons.
Me neither. Not exactly because of the food issue, but because: a) I find them too expensive to maintain and b) I can't command them during siege defenses.

The financial issue might be because I always use high tier (5-6) troops. I should try using lower tier.

Not being able to command siege defenses like if I was there disappoints me, though. I've made a suggestion to make that a feature. It's in my forum signature.

What was your defender count? AI has allsight for garrison numbers:
