Merchant/ Store owner/ Mercenary. In order of interest, I wouldn't say no to a good spoils of war.

I'll play as a Vlandian bandit pillaging and burning everything remotely Sturgian in my sight to punish them for being discount Nords instead of being badass early Russians as it was initially planned.
Early Russians were discount Nords

So seems most people want to be lords, with mercenaries a close second. More people want to be evil bandits than good bandits and quite a few want to be truly evil bandits, also known as merchants.

Battanian national defending his homeland at first, so I can learn about what the game has to offer. Then play as an Imperial lord who unifies the Empire and takes back Calradia.

Start as a humble (albeit heavily armed) traveler, learning about this world and its occupants. Fight off bandits, teach the villagers to fend for themselves, and rally a band of righteous warriors in the name of justice. Then offer my services to whoever seems the most righteous. Together we shall bring peace to the land of Calradia, under a single banner, and one true king (or queen). The world shall finally be able to rest easy.

Then I'll backstab everybody in a coup and try and take it all for myself. If I should die, each member of my line shall do their utmost to either rule the world, or see it burn down around them. My lineage and family name shall become synonymous with treason, dishonesty, and hidden evil. Scholars will puzzle over my actions for centuries to come, how such a mighty paragon fell so far, and how much of my heroism was truly well-meant. Even when I am gone, my castle shall remain empty, as no one dares disturb the fallen hold of the Throne-Breaker.

I think this falls under "other."

I voted for "Other" and I intend to be a humble warrior serving the Empire and the Empress, with a humble hope for some small piece of land somewhere as reward for my services.

Yes being a freelancer at the start is also my plan. And I also want to serve the empress - eventually getting land hopefully. But that's only part of the journey. I want to try climb from commoner to emperor. So if possible I will marry the queens daughter after contributing a ton to the kingdom and basically becoming a legendary lord. It may or may not work out, it will be fun to try though.

Then it will be time to unify the Empire and then - the rest of the map mwahahahaha!

You... I like you.

You have all the makings of a classic super-villain. Including revealing your plan way to early.

Start as a merchant, have a monopoly on important products, become stupid rich, buy an army, bribe my way into a faction leadership, economic warfare with other factions, conquer the world by hunger and poverty, my son kills me because money.

Wow. You're on a whole other level of evil. I suspect that you're the kind of guy who keeps a copy of both Sun Tzu's "Art of War" and Machiavelli's "The Prince" close to his bed.

I mean, the Prince is basically the guide to the typical M&B play through. It's all about gaining power and gaming the systems of society to your advantage while doing just enough things that have a veneer of honor that you won't become a pariah because of your horrifyingly brutal ambition.

Same: Obelix the battanian and my grandmother the Imperial. The third I will try an opportunist that carve his own Kingdom from nothing.
