what's your best speed?

mine was 10.3 there were 15 coursers with me (for mission)

The maximum i believe is 15.2

The highest i've ever achieved is about 12.5

mine could be that much if i sell 6 dried meats.i've a good stock of dried meat.have you ever tried eating horse meat tastes good

the only thing i carry around in inventory is my backup-horse, spirited hunter. i ride a spirited charger and my top speed thusfar is 12.5

My inventory: Back up weapons (6-12) , 6 horses (or is it 8? um, all 2 rows are filled up) 6 dried meat, and rest is for loot.

I've been trading in and buying faster horses and it seems to work, while having fast horsemen in the prisoner slots seems to help too.

Certainly it does. I remember i was being followed by Khergits so i wanted to drop the prisoners to Salt Mine and run away since speed difference was like .1 . When i sold my prisoners, (khergits) i lost like a few .x and khergits caught me. I got beaten real good.

What affects party speed:

Your riding skill affects your individual speed. (athletics if you're not on horse)

Type of horse DOES NOT affect your speed.

You need a lot of mounted troops in your party to have a noticeable speed increase.

If your army is mostly infantry, having a bunch of mounted prisoners will speed you up.

Speed depends on how much stuff you are carrying along, - extra horses will decrease this penalty, but won't raise your total speed.

Finally, pathfinding increases your overall speed by a bit.

OK, so having faster horses in the inventory doesn't help. Oh well.

i've never beaten at all.my worst health was 10(i was hit by crossbow from head)and i never fight with horse or shield(i have a heavy bardiche and it is two handed weapon)

Are you faster with no troops at all or with a lot of mounted troops? Being alone with a horse and pathfinding would make most sense.

i did 9.3 with some hired blades and merchants

It appears that if you are mounted with 8 riding and 8 pathfinding all alone, you'd have the highest map speed.
