I was amazed that I could afford a balanced scimtar almost at the start of the game... Everything seems to be very very cheap :???:

There's been inflation in Calradia. The government decided to divide the price of everything by ten.

That's what I thought
Good or bad? Time will tell.

not everything has been devalued though: the inns seem to cost about the same; and i heard rumors that the salaries (when one joins a faction) have remained the same they used to be (in absolute terms). rumors: since i couldn't check it. the game crashed when i tried to turn in my horses for a quest.

That would make sense as the salaries were ridiculously low... ten times better now

I'd say devaluation is the correct term, since it was the government that did it.

What goverment? :]

That is because they were already devalued. Now it is even worthy to join in faction and you actually have to think about the wages of your military.

Actually, the proper term is revaluation, since the value of the denar went up (1 denar buys more stuff).

Except for labor, thanks to the negotiatiors at the Consolidated Knights & Squires Workers Union.
