I just started playing this mod, and I picked to be a vassel in the crusader states, and so naturally we're fighting the mamulukes.  Yet for some reason the Mamulukes have an army of like over 20-25 vassles, which when they combine is over 2000 men. They can easily form up and come take whatever city they want, and I feel its only a matter of time before they pulverize us.

Is there any reason why their nation was given an army on steriods.  The crusader States have no chance.

ps.  is their any way to edit these things?

Because not too long into your playthrough everyone on the map will declare war on them and rip them a new one.

well, if the game is supposed to be historical, then historically the crusader states lost to the muslims. It's up to you and your amazing tactician brain to outwit the mamuluke sultanate with smaller numbers etching ur place in a new history and what not.

I don't understand the dynamics of them either.

at nearly 200 days in my current game the Sultanate had every faction declare war on them twice (both times after they took Jerusalem), yet few sent troops.

Maybe it was that few sent enough troops to damage them.

What are the dynamics of Jerusalem? The latin empire rules it now and no one but the Sultanate seems to care. So as long as it is not Muslim controlled the other factions will not care who rules the town?

I think the distance is still a problem. there is only so far that lords will travel in war situations.
Wouldn't it be nice if say there was a crusader ( a different one) faction that would pop up with like 1200(maybe lots more) troops in turkey or egypt anytime a crusade was declared and a similar Jihad faction that would be created for the other time. I dunno though, could be fun.

I disabled the crusade stuff for now.  I have to finish it first, there was no point leaving it unfinished as it only creates confusion and messes up the entire peace/war system.

Ahh check your history . Saladin overwhelmed the crusaders with clever tactics and OVERWHELMING  NUMBERS. Just a thought.

Speaking of overwhelming numbers, that yellow kingdom over by france. I was wandering around over there and their towns have like 800+ troops in them and their king is rolling around with 350 troops in his army. Wtf? Sicily only had 300 troops in their town and the king has 220... I'm sensing some inbalance on the map?

Granada?  Yup they get double reinforcement waves, or else they'd get wiped out in about a week of game time.

Yeah I've found the kingdom of granada has way too many units... if it wasnt because im wiping their lrd one by one and taking all of them prisoners, toledo would have been cnquered by the kingdom of granada.. maybe you should turn the wave down to 1.5 or a bit if you ask me... Also, i dont get why the aragoneses arent at war with the granadians :S

I wondered why the game suddenly exploded into everyone declaring war on the Mamlukes.. As much good as England, Scotland, Gaelic Kingdoms, France, etc does declaring war on them.

If anything Granada was a vassal state of the Crown of Castille since 1238 was it not?  Perhaps I should change things around and have Granada and Castille decalre war on the  rest of Iberia.

Depends on what you understand as being a vassal, paying money not to be destroyed, then yes. Being an anexed kingdom for protection, no.

If you dig through the Iberian thread there was a request to make it the way it is now.  How and why I don't remember anymore but if you want to dispute it, go for it
