I played 1257 back in the summer and have started to pick it up again, and so far I like nearly everything that has been changed since then. 1257 is hands down my favorite singlepayer mod, so don't take this as an open bash. Yet, as I'm sure most of you assumed from the subject, I'm little T.O'd about how lances snap after like one or two hits. I like the concept of it, but it really just turns the lance as a weapon into more of a one-kill, one-use item. I know the history aspect of things would be in favor of it breaking after one or two major blows, but it really ruins the gameplay. The lance used to be my favorite weapon. Now I can barely ever use it.
And you know--while I'm complaining about things--the morale later in the game I think is kind of lopsided. I've got a roughly 100-150 man army at any one time; an army of which if I don't win major battles like twice a day, they all desert on me. When I say major battles, I mean like I have to take on a force thats at least two hundred, in order to buy myself some time before all my guys decide to start deserting again. If anything there should be some way to manage a morale setting, or perhaps you could take the route that I saw in POP, where for a price you can raise morale by buying you troops alcohol at a tavern. I feel like it might make let you manage your land and empire, and not have to focus so much on a bunch of whiners in your party.
