So I was at my friends house this weekend and he discovered he could install games to his 360 hard drive so amazed he went and rented a game then installed it afterwards it told him he had to insert the disc soooo... why even install it?

As far as I'm aware, it speeds up playing.

Oblivion went from a laggy peice of **** to a very smooth game after installation. Same for Fallout 3.

Hmm, I'm going to need to try that.

Of course it speeds up the game. Hard drive transfer rates are almost always better than CD/DVD drive transfer rates.

How was Fallout 3 laggy for you? It was NEVER laggy for me, everything was smooth...like chocolate mousse cake....mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm *gurgle*

See what you people did? You got Merentha's hopes up for ANOTHER political discussion, and now he's disappointed! For SHAME!!!

It speeds loading times, essentially.

I must admit I expected this thread to be an E/N piece about how the OP was depressed and undergoing an existential crisis.  Damn.

Me too. I was preparing my best "It's okay, man, we all go through this, just try to wait out the worst of it and then you'll see light at the end of the tunnel" stuff even as I was clicking on the thread.
