What's the point of the tactics skill?

Lv8 tactics gives you 4 more troops than the enemy... but I'm sure any one of us can take out 4 enemies single-handedly! Maybe it's most useful during the automated combat, like "order your troops to charge while you stay back" or sth. Or does the skill have some other uses?

I believe the enemy gets relatively less troops, and you more. And when you automatically resolve the battle, your troops do better.

To add to this, does the morale of units you control affect anything? If so how can you get it to change, or is it not effective yet?

Morale does nothing right now. Better food will boost morale though, with meat being the most beneficial, however if you don't feed your men, they will leave. Now, with tactics skill, i have a suggestion. With the last patch, the battle size was increased 50%, and i recall armagan stating he was going to increase it 50% more with the next patch. That means that battles will be 125% larger on max size as they were originally. So, wouldn't it make sense to at least double the effectiveness of the tactics skill to help compensate? Those 4 extra guys help out alot more in the original system, but with larger battles, it makes less of a difference.

To see the greatest effect, set battle size to smallest. A tactics of 8 makes this an 8 on 4.

8 heavy cav vs. 4 infantry is a slaughter any way you put it.

Of course you can headshot all 4 within 30 seconds if you have decent missile proficiency but it's nice to occasionally sit back and watch your cav tear up the enemy.
