What's the deal with fief distribution in this game?!

I am currently playing Vlandia and the king is taking all fiefs that are being conquered, and i mean ALL. I don't really understand the point of the fief-ownership-vote if the ruler can do whatever he wants without consequences anyway (Yeah sure, he is the king but cmon, srsly?). The only benefit of spending influence on these votes is to get relation with vassals. I even reloaded to see if i can alter the outcome by supporting different votes with 50, 100 or 200 influence but it's always the same (my relation with the king is 100 btw).

And you can't even propose to give the kings fiefs to someone else because duh, he is the king...

I enoy the game but this really kills the mood. Anyone else having the same thing happen in their game?

Was he the one taking those castles? In my vlandian campaign I just took 3 castles in a row myself and all 3 of them got awarded to me. So I figure there is a heavy emphasis is on who took the castle?

But yeah I totally agree fief distribution and voting needs some work.

I agree is kind of weird,in theory it should take into consideration the number of fiefs a clan has,the relation with the people involved (or at least I think so) and who took the castle. I've been all day taking castles and cities on my playthrough and I've got like 3 fiefs of more than 20 sieges and the funny thing is the fiefs I've got are from sieges I haven't even been part of.
That and the king taking every other fief or some lords with 5% voting getting castles,IDK the whole system feels really weird.

Was he the one taking those castles?

Of about 15 fiefs, i took 5. All of them went to the ruler.

So I figure there is a heavy emphasis is on who took the castle?

That would make sense. Maybe my save is just bugged, who knows. To me the whole fief-vote-system is completely intransparent and doesn't make much sense. I would love an explanation by the devs how it is determined who gets a fief. I guess this topic will be adressed at some point in the future.

Yeah, I'm on beta branch 1.4.2 and it's not fixed. 2 1/2 months later. Still an issue.

I've taken 7 cities and 5 castles for Rhegea, and she's given them all to herself. She has like, 14 fiefs, and everyone else has 1.

I think it as to do with the number of fiefs the clan has, clans with less fiefs are more likely to be candidates (except the king).
When I joined Vlandia they took a castle without my help and everyone voted on me, even though I don't have super relations with the clans, its like 10, some are 20, the most friendly its 50 (not the ruler clan) because of the marriage.
Some time after that, I gathered an army and took a town and later a castle, most voted on me, I got both.
Then took another town (far away from my currently owned fiefs), I had the privilege to be a candidate but everyone voted on the king. Took another castle, this time I wasn't a candidate, It went to a clan with 0 fiefs that was our former enemy (Wich I think its stupid, a clan being on the losing side, switch to the winners side and imediatly gets the trust to own a fief).
After this I returned to my fiefs gathered an army made of my clan parties only (to see if it would make any difference), took a castle and voila, I got it.

Currently I own 3 castles and 1 town, I have conquered a few more castles and towns after this, but I think I'm out of the voting pool.
This is also because there are a ton of newcomer former-enemy clans, Wich one of them is my fault, I accidently convinced a enemy mercenary clan to swith sides, I thought it would switch as a mercenary not as a vassal.
I think its worth mention that all my 4 fiefs make border with each other, not sure if it makes any diference, like if you have this fief that makes border with this newly conquered fief you are more likely to have it.
Also not sure if clan tier affects the maximum number of fiefs you can own, I'm currently tier 5 and since villages count as fiefs so I have 12 fiefs.
