What's the advantage you have when you've got multiple castles?

I got 2 castles and the city of Dhirim. But it's actually pretty hard to hold them all because we have war with Swadia and Rhodok (I am Khergit). I'd rather have just Dhirim or so...

What's the advantage of multiple castles?

edit: forgot to say with it that holding several castles is so expensive that I'm always busy with making money.

Your troops stationed at each are at half wages when garrisoned.  And they give you rent money.

Each castle costs more than it makes money. I wouldn't do it for the rents. And it's easy to get troops if you go to all the villages and kill some bandits. If I would lose a castle, I can take another easily. (especially now I'm marshal)

am I the only one that makes more money after the week than before? I make LOTS of money from the castles but then again I don't have entire armies in the castles...... just 100 or so, and only 1 castle (I wasn't even in the fight i just got it, and I whould have goten Uxhal too, if I hadn't declined, to close to the travelroute of the Swadian lords. And the next castle I checked, and everyone supported me I think it's because every lord likes me, exept for all the not-so-honest lords) and 3 villages.

Castles make enough for me.  I get most of my money from pillage and plunder anyway.
