What's that? *Another* computer thread?

Users who are viewing this thread

I have £484.08 in moneys, and I was wondering if anyone could make a decent gaming rig for me. I don't care if I would have to build it myself, but as long as it can run decent games, such as Sword of the Stars on high. The thing is, my laptop's ****, so any computer would be an improvement, although I'd like to see what the best possible computer I can get is.

Thanks.

I would think you would need twice your budget for a core i7 build.  If you want to go Intel, something like the E6300 or the cheaper Core 2 Duos are more your budget, eh, I'd like to be proven wrong.  Oh, and be sure to also get a compatible motherboard.

Edit:  Switched out the optical drive with one that had a black faceplate to match the case.  I'm pretty sure you'll have to buy a separate SATA cable since it's OEM.

That looks pretty awesome, actually. Like I said before, any computer that could tide me over would be alright. Does anyone know if that computer's good enough for ArmA 2?

Cheers.

Optimal PC Requirements
CPU: Intel Core 2.8 GHz / AMD Athlon 64 X2 4400+ or faster
RAM: 2 GB
Video Card: NVIDIA GeForce 8800GT / ATI Radeon 4850 with Shader Model 3 and 512 MB VRAM or faster
OS: Windows XP or Vista

I imagine you would be able to run it on high settings at 1680x1050
