It seems that the AI takes into consideration the allegiances of their family members in addition to their personal standing.

But how is a Swadian Lady the mother of a Swadian Count while being married to a Jarl, did she not have a husband or what?

She married a Swadian Count (Delinard) and had a child.  Later, Delinard left or was exiled and joined the Nords.  He is now referred to as Jarl Delinard but his son remains loyal to Swadia.  Wives always move with their husbands when changing factions, sons/fathers/other related lords do not.
