What would happen to the cities they control? Asking because I wiped out 80% of the Khuzait clans (as an empire restorationist Khuzait myself, no less).

What would happen if you executed all lords of a faction?

When I was killing all the lords from the southern empire most of their remaining lords ended up defecting the faction with their cities, and those that didn't simply had theirs besieged by other factions since they were pretty weak.
I don't remember seeing a single city/fort that didn't belong to someone even after I wiped all of them out

The cities would be given to the remaining lords. Until the last lord alive owned all the cities in that faction.
If you kill him/her then the faction is destroyed. Perhaps you will get all the cities?
I was doing a similar thing executing all the lords from the empire, I destroyed the northern empire and all their cities instantly were given the to southern empire. At that point in the game the southern empire had no land, so was a bit weird

That would explain what happened in my playthrough, the last northern empire lords defected to the southern empire

i hunt down all of sturgian lords and i got all of their settlements with 5000 a day income lol (i'm not a vassal or mercenary), once your party can reach 90 ppl , just use all horse archer army and u can bait them out one by one by sieging their settlement, 90 horse archer army can defeat an army of 180 pretty easily
