What Do You Plan On Going With?

Medium cavalry in service to the Empress and the Empire.

I've got some ideas for other builds but in Medieval Conquests with the Byzantines I've come to realize that medium cavalry fighting with spear and javelins is the best for me. As a commander I expect to have to be ready to engage with almost any enemy type or shore up any faltering unit and not stay within a safe zone throughout battle after battle. Thus the gear of a generalist is the choice for my gear.

Heavy archers! If your far away, we will mess you up! Get close, we will still mess you up! Don't know if I am going to play as Battania or the Empire with elite archers but it will be fun.

It depends on the game stage.
Early game light cav or horse archers. Lightly armored enemies, unshielded infantry stand no chance even if they out number you greatly so they are great as long as you are fast on the map and pick your battles

Later I will mix this with heavy cav, horse archers can harrass the enemy while the heavy cav mow down opposing organized cav or archers

Much later I often do a hard transition to heavy infantry

Leader: bow, Arrows, arrows, longest range horizontal-mounted weapon possible (seems to be glaive in bannerlord), most armored horse I can find.
Party: Heavy cav or armored X bowmen, though the Fain and Khans guard are nice too, will want to try them in SP.

If you mean captain n mode, then Medium archers.

I would have added them but I ran out of space I guess you could count light cav as them but idk
