I see love for Greenville and Asheville, where is the love for Charlotte?
The mountains are like a 4-hour drive from Charlotte! And its party quarter isn't anything special, you can experience the same stuff in either Greenville or Asheville and still be fairly close to the Blue Ridge Park Way. Though it gets closed at some point when the weather gets bad, so might be a moot point in any case.

It's very unlikely to be closed in December. The really bad stuff doesn't usually hit till January.

You partied in Charlotte and I wasn't invited?   I are disappoint.

No, just had to drive few people to the airport on an occasion. I only had time to drive through the downtown party area and noted that it was eerily similar to the one in Greenville and Asheville. And Spartanburg too, now that I'm thinking about it.

I'm late to the party, but the Great Smokey Mountains National Park is the most visited in the nation, and really neato. If you could find a cheap hotel in Gatlinburg, the place is really nice this time of year and has a gazillion and 5 tourist attractions. Really big and nice Ripley's Aquarium, Dollywood's just down the road, all sorts of shows and "old timey" tours and such, and tons of good places to eat.

I'll second this. It is one awesome area to visit. You can't beat Dollywood for Christmas shows either. If you want more of the city, Knoxville is a great city to visit that won't be too far off either.

Nobody's late to any parties. I haven't decided anything yet (or even read all of my own thread).

I now at least have some ideas of what might be interesting, but keep 'em coming please.

If you go to Texas I can only really recommend the wilderness or Austin. Everything else is pretty dull.

Ive heard Austin is completely different to the rest of hillbilly texas. Because its a college city or something. That true?

I think it has to do with all the gays. Stay far away; cowboy gays are especially dangerous after that movie with Heath Ledger.

I don't have a hard time believing this, actually.

Yes, it's the lone bastion of enlightenment in the ocean of ignorance.

I've heard Dallas had a library once in the 60s, not sure what they used it for though.
That was a book depository, not a library, and it was used as a fake sniper's nest to implicate an innocent man in the murder of a fairly important person.

Eternal's suggestions sound awesome though. San Francity, nice. Mountains? Kickass. Big honking huge trees? Awesome. Eternal? Okay.

Y'know, this could work. Now I just need to figure out the how.

You also can hang out with me. I live in that area.

Ooh a meetup, that sounds neatup

I feel so overlooked.

Sorry Bruto. Charlotte sounds nice but it's the kind of place that requires an explanation if you want to tell people where you've been or show them pictures.

I'm definitely leaning towards California but I haven't actually tried to figure anything out yet. Oops.

I assume Hawaii is just going to be ludicrously expensive?

Colorado would be a great place to go, and its relatively close. New Mexico is also a really neat place to visit.

Charlotte
I grew up in Charlotte. It's very pretty, and easily the best city in NC. Raleigh doesn't hold a candle to it.

Yes. Hawaii is literally in the middle of nowhere and requires a long flight to get to. Plus it's quite expensive to find a place to stay while you're there.
