when i was playing Warband(As Always) these dots appeared.I closed the game and did everything i can to make them disappear but they just didnt and i dont know what the hell  it is about.

the number of the dots(pixels if you say)are always changing
sometimes they are less
sometimes they are many and when i fingertip punched the monitor nothing happened

Edit:the problem is fixed as i restarted my computer for the third time but i wonder if it happens again?

These aren't dead pixels, because you can't make a screenshot of a dead pixel. It's definitely a bug in your video card.

If it happens too often, the only thing I can say is to buy a new card.

Your card overheated, clear out any dust from the heatsink. If that doesnt help you can always bake it in the oven. What card is it? Nvidia 8800 series?

Hey, you can't blame the kid for having grown up in a world like this.

On topic: Install new graphics card drivers. I don't think DirectX has anything to do with it, but you could try getting the latest version of that. Otherwise, check your card out (the hardware) is it clogged up with dust, etc? Clean it up and make sure it's not overheating. Pull out your card and reinsert it. I'm no professional, but that's what I'd do. Plus, if that doesn't work, just back up your important stuff and reinstall Windows. Always seems to do magic, if you can be bothered.

Edit: If it happened only once, and it was fixed after rebooting your PC three times, then I think it was probably overheating. Were you doing anything intense before it happened? (Playing a vid. game or something similar)?
