What the hell is this new command system!!

If anyone pretends the menu hasn't changed the fact archers are now more deadly are delusional/trolls.

I had zero issue adapting and still lose a lot of troops due to breaking formation to look somewhere different.

To people pretending however, that thus new system is difficult do need to suck it up and learn it too

The old system worked just fine and no one was complaining about it except they wanted more commands, then TW decides that they want to introduce a radial menu for console gamepad users. They told us that we would get the old one back, but they revert the layout back in looks only, but it functions the same as the new one. There was no need to switch the layout for m&kb. It's not about the difficulty of the system it's about putting in an objectively worse system in place of an older one, because they couldn't be asked to have more than one layout as an option. Don't blame the players for being upset. TW caused this problem and if people have an issue then they have every right to complain about it.

That's terrible. Devs, why did you mess with someting already working fine? Awful menu design and terrible command keys configuration. The whole system sucks. I hope you guys bring back the good old system. I don't understand how you people thought that was good idea ffs.
I totally agree: the new ordering system is crap! The single player game can still be played, but when playing in captain mode, precious time is wasted! Patch 1.5.5. for the captain's mode the most terrible update, I don't remember such horror even in the closed beta test ...

The thing that worries me is that in the recent threads about this problem, there hasnt been any response at all from the dev team. I just don't trust them that they will make the decision that many are waiting for.

Edit : what do we need to show them how fd up this system is perceived if all these different threads aren't enough?

The game isn't even close to being done, why are they worrying about consoles already?

They've been busy on Steam Forums replying to exact same threads.
Here's 2, but there's many more. They're aware of the "issue" they themselves created

Precisely, I among many more users advocated implementing from more buttons improving the face direction or getting back for example the functions of change of weapon, spacing, run/walk to new command systems through radial interfaces allowing to concentrate attack on specific enemy unit, skirmish behaviour, etc..
When I saw the decision that Taleworlds made to implement this solution, I could only take my hands to my head... ? ?

Yes, need configurable keybindings, and put commands on one-button press for more ease and efficiency, I do agree

They changed it to be more suitable for consoles basically, and then everyone disliked the radial menu so they changed it back to whatever the **** this is.
IIRC it has nothing to do with consoles, it's just a myth that was created by some people.
Months ago some people complained that using Alt+F4 would quit the game, so the devs had to decide if they want to disable windows functions or if they want to limit usage of function keys. There was actually a discussion on the forums about it.
I still think they should give us the option to return to the old UI though.

It's not a myth at all, it has literally everything to do with consoles since it's quite obviously designed for consoles.

The radial menu is designed for controllers (PC + consoles). I was talking about the bar though.

I'm not defending the change. I'm just saying that it isn't as bad as complainers think. It's a very minor change that can be relearned in weeks. I get that it's different, and will require some time to adjust, but had they started with this layout nobody would be complaining because they would have already learned it.

What I don't like is developers seeing complaints and making feeling they need to change things, then unchange things then change things, because online there is a negative comment bias - as people who are OK are unlikely to post.

Looking at the regular playerbase Bannerlord has left I’d say a considerable of that resides here on the forums. Enough to get a representative feel of what the majority must experience.

The fact that this was even an issue only proves poor game design.
For ALT, just make it another key and rebindable, no issue then

As I said above, I am not happy with the current implementation either, but it doesn't help when people make up random nonsense. I didn't intend to defend the current system but to explain the real reason for the change.
Anyway, removing Alt functionality is just as stupid as removing F4 functionality.
It's all pointless though because the upcoming changes will hopefully address the issue.

Removing ALT is easy. Make it Ctrl by default and make it re-bindable. Ez fix for devs who has no clue what they're doing.
Then people who complain about Alt+F4 can shut up

This is one of the main things putting me off playing the game atm.
Same, it's just atrocious to command your troops now with the new commands.

It's not just a matter of muscle memory, learning the new commands or the looks of the menu since they allowed the old bar menu back, it's the change to the commands, they are bad period, it completely ****ed over the placement/turn direction which is a major pain if you are trying to fight in formation and keep your guys properly aligned where they should be.

I'm waiting for an improvement on this before starting playing again because honestly it took away most of the fun since it get boring fast to tell your guys to just charge or delegate them to AI sergeants since it's so bad to command them on keyboard now..

I'm not worried... I don't think TW would leave it like that...
I mean... I'm not updating from 1.5.4 unless UI, simulation battle/vs player present battle death ratios and that newly introduced crash are fixed.
What I can't figure is... What were they thinking? "Face that way" should become easier, not more difficult... Particularly not after 10 years of M&B'ing LOL

I hope it will be one of the F4-F10 keys:

F1-3 will stay the same but I'm looking into ways to include one click orders on F4-10 on PC.

e.g. "Toggle Fire" will still be under the F3 list but players will be able to also give that command with one of the F4-10 keys.
