What should I get?

So, yeah, I still suck at TF2. I'm afraid to even try the support classes. Maybe a spy, but the medic and engineer seem too important for me to **** up.
I never liked spy, but medic is as easy as following the ****er with the biggest gun around with your ray beams and bone-sawing anyone that gets too close, which is remarkably effective against pyros. Engineer is equivalent to "I hope you love camping". Which, of course, I do. Sometimes. They are useless on offensive rounds though, despite what other people are doing. Even in CTF maps, occasionally engineers will not be very important, though. Medics are always a must.

I'd say engineers are pretty damn effective. Sentries along with snipers probably kill me the most.

EDIT:

On another note, I just tried the pyro for the first time, and GOD DAMN. It's like they all started dropping like flies.

Dear God do I hate pyros....... But Medic is my favourite class by far! Ubering a Pyro is overkill sometimes and Ubering a Heavy is nice for scaring people out of a room. As for offence? The syringe gun can be effective if you run away a lot.

Be a demoman. As for the snipers, you'll probably be best off with pyro with flare gun. Shoot 'em with the flare gun, disorients them and also makes them think they're being backburned by another pyro if they haven't seen you shoot them.

Point being Medieval's sieges are about as much fun as castration with a plastic spatula. Not only are the mechanics themselves pants, but nothing brings out the shoddy AI and botched pathfinding like a city street.

Seems to me like he was complaining about the fact that there were a lot of sieges. They're really ****ing annoying because half the time the AI will abandon their siege equipment and actually wait for you to attack them, but that didn't enter the discussion.
I don't think anyone's debating the fact that playing Serious Sam 1 on Mental beats M2TW sieges.

Engineers can be very useful. Teleporters and forward bases are key.

Yeah, I find teleporters to be very useful and it's always nice to have a sentry around that next corner.

I kind of like the sieges especially defnding them. They can become beautifull bloodbaths! When I conquer, I besiege and just wait untill the AI attcks me. In the mod I pimped here, Sieges are especially fun now that I have late msuketeers! There's something wonderfull about bombarding the sallying ennemy with 6 batteries of Serpentines and 2 batteries of Basiliek and watching the few that survived the onslaught fall and turn to the rout after the first musket volley by the 6 units of late Musketeers!

They can be fun, don't get me wrong. It's just half the time they, you know, aren't. Because of that stupid bug I mentioned, which isn't fixed in any of the mods as far as I know.

Teleporters are useful, but they can only teleport one person at a time and at a slow rate. To have an efficient rate of transfer, you'd need at least, say, three engies, which is easily too many and an extra heavy weapons guy, pyro, or perhaps even a sniper would be more useful, or maybe a medic or demoman.

I never had the ai abandon their siege equipment, unless I sallied cavalry ina kamikaze action!

But since I hate losing even a single soldier because it messes up the nice round numbres and pretty formations I usually didn't do that unless I had filthy mercenaries present.

I usually prefered a siege without a fight when I was on the offensive because battles tend to get some of your own troops killed too, That's what I love about AOR colonies expanded mod, If I bring enough artillery and Musket wielding troops I can win battles without losing troops 50% of my army needs to be artillery for that to happen tough.

I have the same problem with M&B once I have gathered a nice army and gained some victories with no deaths and only knock outs I get disgusted with the game when one of my men dies unless he was a mercenary from the Tavern, then I don't care. Haven't played M&B 1.003 for a month now only becuase I was doing well and suddenly had 4 Nords die on me in battle

Ive also bought beyond good and evil for 10 bucks off steam, and it's turning out to be a surprisingly good adventure game.

Well, if you're using Steam now, get Painkiller It's only 10 bucks and one of the best FPS ever made.
Multiplayer is frantic, takes a long time to learn. Plus there are no US servers, which is bad if you're from there.

By the way, stay away

I bought Garry's Mod. Nothing I make seems to work the way I envision it.

Looks cool, though:

Also run into a bug or two:

Right now I'm trying to use that map to make a scene. Posing rag dolls is a pain in the ass, and to get them to stand correctly, I seem to have to stand them up slightly above the ground.

Haven't read the thread, however I've got one suggestion: GameTap. I've been a subscriber for over a year now, best bang for your buck, imho.
