What should I get?

Master Knight
I'm looking for a game that I can buy digitally. Something with a lot of bang for the buck. I like all kinds of games, and not really looking for anything specific, just something to waste my hard earned money on. Any ideas?

Well... what games do you like, what games you got? Come on, gimme something to freaking work with here!? Virtual Jenna?!

OMG YES! Wait..No! No!

Uhm, really, I can't think of any genre that I don't like. Except sports, and even those I find fun, but not fun enough to waste money on. I'm more concerned with quality. Just anything you've bought recently that you find extremely fun? I'm willing to do my own research to see if I'd actually like the game. Just drawing up a blank right now.

EDIT:
Also willing to buy older games, as long as I can buy them digitally and download them. There are a lot of old classics that I haven't played.

Older games... hmm... have you played Deus Ex? You can buy it through Steam, or play it for free on GameTap.

Sword of the Stars is available via Gamer's Gate & Stardock Central/Impulse. Get the collectors edition (includes the first expansion Born of Blood) and if you like it, the third and final expansion (A Murder of Crows) is out too. Pretty good space strategy with realtime battles. Little tough to get into initially, but bloody great once you get to grips with it.

Hinterlands (Steam) is another decent little game. Random world generated each game so plenty of replay. Basically a mixture of diabloesque adventure with some town management thrown in. Don't expect hugely intricate gameplay though.

Children of the Nile is also available on Steam (and Gamer's Gate, at least the expansion), and an expansion for same too fairly cheap. Good little city builder (probably the best since Zeus imho).

Armageddon Empires is pretty neat hex based strategy / card game. Again, highly replayable.

Gal Civ II if you haven't already got it, via Impulse/Stardock Central. Sins of a Solar Empire if you prefer RTS, it's not horrendous but a tad too 'generic RTS' for me.

Ghost Master, pretty nice game though not a huge lot of replayability. Available on Steam & Gamer's Gate

Civ 4 & Civ 4 : Colonization are up on Gamer's Gate too.

Galciv II is amazing.

You should also get Space Rangers 2 via Impulse. It's essentially a turn-based space-roguelike. Absolutely wonderful.

Gal Civ II, Sins of a Solar Empire, and Space Rangers all look like good choices.

Sins of a Solar Empire...Is the demo pretty representative of the game? I've been meaning to try it out. I've also noticed that Team Fortress 2 is only 20 bucks. Never got a chance to play it, and it's pretty ****ing tempting, seeing as how cool the game looks, though I think I want to get something deeper than a multiplayer FPS. Is it any fun, and for how long?

Team Fortress 2 is great. I've played about 150 hours of it so far. It's a great shooter (better than CoD4, IMO) and if you can find a server with a good, steady, community, it's even better. Valve also supports it heavily; we're getting at least 4 more content packs. So far, each content pack has included new 3 unlockable weapons, new achievements, and a new map.

Not played the demo. Problem with Sins is it tends to be a bit too oversimplified combat wise.

Dude, seriously you think he doesn't know that?! Thats probably the ****iest game most advertised!!

Have you ever played Full Spectrum Warrior?
If not he is available for download(free) in Filefront along with Area 51 and Rise & Fall: Civilizations at War!

Two new games I've played lately, Civ IV: Colonization (nice if you like the Civ series) and King's Bounty (nice if you like the HoMM series) are both available via Gamersgate.

Civ IV:Col has multiplayer, KB has better single player replay value. Both has a lot of bang for the buck.

Lot of bang for the buck. Never realised how dirty that sounds.

Of course, if you can find a copy of Planescape:Torment online...it's possibly the best game I ever played. And probably cheap too by now!

Gamersgate has a couple of interesting games:

Anno 1503, Anno 1701 - micromanagement /city building /RTS
Gothic II Gold - RPG
Penumbra - Action adventure

Mmmm eggplant...

Oh! Uhm, yeah, I think I'm going to buy TF2 and then something else. Wish I head a mic.

Empire total war is the best RTS game ever. It's coming around this year or 2009.
But i suggest you play Counter Strike or Call of Duty 4 if you like FPS game.
I got a hack for Counter Strike: Source if you need. It's a really good one, it has every kind of hack in it.!

Oh man thanks for that.

How can an unreleased game be the best one ever? Unless you mean that it will be the best one ever? But then you'd just be a fanboy.
