I hope this won't turn into one of those "hi I'm a girl who plays this game way to much" thread.

And you forgot to put an option for bolth or other. joke

One of the magazines I bought in England during my vacation there (Think it was PCGamer) did a special on why there arn't many female gamers. But it was 5 pages long and lots of words confuse me.

I am male.

The reason is simple. The majority of games are excessivly violent and gorey. Not many females like that. Of couse, it isn't as bad as it sounds, but most girls never get the chance to learn that. There's also other factors, like lead roles nearly always being male, but that isn't as important as the sheer grusomeness factor.

I shall quote..In a minute...

First, a technical reason. "Women's eyes have more rods then men, and as a result have better peripheral vision. They see better in the dark and take in more at a glance then men. Men have more cones then women, allowing them to see one segment of the visual field in greater detail with better depth perception then women."

In other words, as said...

"Examples of this physical difference could be..:
1. A man is walking down the street with a woman when he spots a beautiful vinetage Ford Mustang speeding by. He says 'Oh! Did you see that car?'. The woman looks confused. Her gaze takes in the whole street, all the cars, buildings and people moving. She can't pick out the car from everything else."

That's just one of many reasons.

There's of course, violence. The "Sexist" messages sent by the GTA and postal series. And the inappropiately dressed females in other such games.

Also, another thing...

You may notice that females tend to go for completly non-linear games such as The Sims. While males tend to be content with the more linear shooters (Sometimes).

'Course, games arn't targetting women anyway. Males are were the $$$ is at. 99% of the gaming population (Or to be realistic, 97.13%) are males. The game industry is completly biased towards the males.

That being said, it's more complicated then blood and gore.

But as the great Shocker98 said...

"Don't listen to me, i'm just a 13 year old child with no idea what he's talking about"

The editor of Pelit (Finlands biggest game magazine has a woman in charge  ) just explained it quite well in the editorial. She says the way to get women to play games is by adding an extra hour to the day. They simply don't have enough time.
Add: and I'm not going to answer the poll since there is no other/both/unknown answer

Are you implying that everyone who likes M&B because of its non-linearity is a poof?

there is atleast one regularly posting women on this forum. but she probably won't post here because cooperation isn't her strong point
