What is your favourite faction and why ?

I love all of them really, they're all unique in their ways. Empire culture and city architecture is awesome but I don't think I can do without my heavy crossbows so it's going to be a Vlandia from me.

Since I'm Celtic, I feel obligated to finally finish what my ancestor Niall started after the Romans left Britain. I'm going to conquer the world and have everyone live in Celtic paradise as the world was truly intended.

Long live the Celts and down with Normandy. Oops, I mean: long live Battania and down with Valandia.

I honestly like all factions for different reasons, I am having a hard time choosing my to go faction of my first playthrough. I am Italian, so either Vlandia or the Empire are the "closest" to me, but it's a hard choice to make! Then of course i'll end up joining all of them eventually in my many attempts

Vlandia for their troop tree. I have a thing for heavy cavalry and crossbowmen. I also like their position in the world. I can't wait to walk the streets of Pravend and sample the early butters found there.

I'm more interested in the ancient than medieval world and as the Empire is modelled after the Byzantines, whom themselves are the continuation of the Greco-Roman civilization, I find that the Empire is the first choice for me.

Guys don't forget to play as your least favorite when EA comes out! That way you can gain an understanding of game mechanics as they are developed and patched in, and you can keep your favorites till full release.

Bold of you to assume I won't play my favourite faction hundreds of times over for years to come.

Seriously though, I'm hesitant to even pick a favourite faction, as they are all appealing in their way. I'll certainly try all of them in time, but have my mind set on starting with Aserai. Not least for reasons of fashion, yes.

Battanians. Falxes, ash throwing spears, fast movement speed, aesthetic. Great archers too. Say no more!

I don't have one jet. But Valandia is the most boring for me, since it is just 0815 Medieval Western Europe before Plate Armor.
All other factions are more unique...
Disagree, Vlandian looks very interesting and unique to me. I also need to learn more about their culture. With that being said, Aserai is probably my favorite because I like their javs and mamluks look very cool. But I won't be playing native for long after the samurai mods come out.

It's funny, in Warband, my least favorite faction -from an aesthetics standpoint, was Swadia (I liked their playstyle though). Their whole design just felt very generic and cliche, like the stereotypical Western European medieval kingdom you'd find in any pop culture medium.

Yet in Bannerlord, I find that Vlandia -the ancestors of Swadia (and the Rhodoks!), looks very interesting, with its troops having nice distinctive features, as if their troops actually belong to a unique culture. In addition to the units, I believe the one map in Skirmish Mode -the one with the stables, market stalls, and pennants stretching across the streets, is a Vlandian settlement. That map has a cool atmosphere, something I feel was missing from Swadian cities and villages in Warband. This goes to show what an excellent job Taleworlds has done in giving every faction a unique, intriguing look and vibe. Hats off to the devs.

A close second though is the Aserai. I'm absolutely loving their aesthetic right now. The dusty, arid settlements hugging a precious life-giving water source, and not to mention how fierce the Mamelukes look. In addition, have you guys checked out their Bedouin unit? Fastest horse in the game, plus if you take the (I think) improved armor perk, your character is wearing this leopard or cheetah skin draped across their shoulder. How cool is that?
