I know this topic has probably been done many many times already, but im new to the forum and im sure others are too. Its always a nice topic anyways. I'll go first. My favorite Faction is the Swadians. I've always been interested in the Knightly orders and they're my favorite topic from Medieval history. So since the Swadians are your classic Medieval Faction I naturally gravitate towards them. Most of their early tier troops are very ineffective by themselves, Swadian Footman usually get destroyed by other infantry such as the Nords. Their crossbowman are outbowed by the Vaegir or Rhodok archers and crossbowmen respectively. However using them together with superior tactics can win the day. The Swadian Knights and Men at Arms are some of the best Heavy Calvary in the game and very few to match their speed and effectiveness. Running down any foolish enough to challenge them. It's always satifying to Ride forth from the Castle and chase off any army from the castle with my Own Elite army of Swadian Knights... So thats my post if you need Guidelines just put down your favorite faction, what you like most about them, Their strengths and weaknesses, or maybe you just like their beards! Whatever the case stand up for your faction you fanboys!

Indeed... in fact too many if I might add, and you failed in adding a pool.

-_- Well I didn't see the option and again im new to the forum and there are probably a lot of others too considering Warband just came out. That brings both more people and a new faction so im starting it up for those who would like to share..

Sarranids.

Because I like the Uniforms, The Desert, The Archers and Infantry.
They may not be that strong, but they look good .

I am just hoping for some Camels, then ill be really pleased.
Still dont understand why our Caravans are towed by horses, Still think we should have Camels doing that, since Camels are not good war Animals, but good for Trade!

And I enjoy looking good being an Archer and Commander in my Army.

If just we had the Woman dressed in Proper Sarranid Uniforms, id love my Faction to death.

sometimes i wonder about some of the people in this forum. i understand that it might be a bit irritating to see the same issues hogging the forum again and again. but really, most of the time, you can tell from the title that its a repeated post. so why bother clicking, and after clicking, why bother scolding the guy? why not let whoever who hasn't yet read it discuss it and post whatever they want? if majority of ppl have seen the topic, chances are, the post will be ignored and disappear without a reply.

no offense to anyone in particular of course, jst my little opinion.

I love Sarranids, they remind me of Assassin's Creed and I like how they look and how they fight. They are quick and beautiful.

I agree, there is no need to attack the OP. Because its just nice to aimlessly talk about these things sometimes. Plus my favourite faction changes each week it seems so i like to keep voting haha .

Currently i love the idea of khergit. I say the idea becuse ive never actually played with them but i love being a horse archer haha .

Unfortunetly my horse archer made his own kingdom before he ever got chance to saddle up with the khergits, tho i may garison my army and build a new khergit army.

Its a shame that I cannot export more of my players stats, armour/weapons/renown etc. I have to cheat to get them.

Gotta give props to the Nord.  pound for pound and Denar for Denar the best bloody fighting force around.  And yes, I've used the others extensively except the Sarranid, who are just a blitzer version of the Khergit.  The Nord hold up better under a Cav charge than other infantry, are far more aggressive about dragging said Cav off the horse (or cutting it's legs from beneath it) and still have reliable archers to assist in Siege defenses...  Course when it's raining AXES as they come up the ladder maybe arrows don't matter too much

Singleplayer: Swadians (I Love Their Cavalry, Just Having A Legion Of Knights)
Multiplayer: Nords (I Play Infantry Online And I Love Nord Equipment)

I like playing as Nords. It makes sieges a whole lot easier and bunched up warriors can still destroy calvary charges. Its also easy to make money when at peace with the Veagirs. Curaw Iron to Wercheg. Werched Salt to Sargoth, Sargoth Flax to Tihr and then Tihr Salt to Praven. Its divine.

Vaegirs because they reminiscent of Russians. I like their great archers, good cavalry and not bad infantry. What else could I want?

I like Vaegir Knights I dont know why but even though I know they are inferior to swadian/sarranid heavy cav I just cant help but want to use them.  Vaegir marksman are also nice altho I think I like rhodok sharpshooters more.  Anyways Vaegirs are my fav race.

Nords because the upgrade path is easy (basic infantry -> good infantry -> better infantry -> best infantry -> champions). Put them in a tight formation and they beat Swadian and Sarranid cavalry, in a siege there shield protect them against arrows and bolts while they push through any kind of defence.

Vaegir archers don't pierce shields, Rhodok sergeants are to slow on the map, Swadians are to expensive, Khergits are to weak in sieges and Sarranids are to perfect.

Of course they also have their good points : Vaegir have the best looking knights, Rhodok sharpshooter are cool, Swadian have perfect cavalry, Khergits are fast on the map and Sarranids are easily rebuffed by Nords.

I prefer Swadians, because I love a cavalry army - it's power mixed with speed, while Rhodoks for example are best at sieges and suck at open field battles. Swadians are all-round good, they have no flaws when using Swadian Knights, they can adopt to anything - open field battles with horses on, battles with no horses, siege attacking/defending etc.

if i judge by all the troops in the faction, id choose rhodoks. they have a good partnership between sharpshooter and sergeant that nord archers cant do for huscarls.

if i judge by single unit, then id still pick the rhodok sergeant over the nord huscarl, and sergeant over sharpshooter. just by stats, youd think the huscarl could trump all situations, but in practice they just cant take on sergeants as smoothly when on your side. even if the enemy lord carried mostly huscarls, itd be the same result with sergeants triumph on the player side. inside a castle, huscarls > sergeants, since their legs are covered, but outside, they'll incur more casualties than an army of sergeants.

if i judge by geography, i like where swadia starts out in the middle--but that quickly changes

if i judge by multiplayer units, id pick the nords anyday. i like my archers with a two-handed axe ready

The Khergits.

Life in the saddle.....wind in your hair.....the endless steppes.... and maybe a falcon on your arm.........the ultimate freedom.
My strongest character in classic M&B was a powerful Khergit Warlord who nearly conquered all of Calradia with his army the 'Iron Horde'. Although he was the most influential figure in the land he remained loyal to the great Khan until his death.

I like to imagine they could be the most ruthless and cruel of all people but also the most honourable and upright.
Its the beauty of barbarism, something they share with the Nords.

no

Get a dozen men-at-arms or knights and you can just sit back and watch while they win. And it isn't just in battles in the field, either. They're fantastic in sieges, both ways, as well.

I like the Rhodoks because they are a damned challenge. Of all the factions I'd have to say they're the hardest to use, so it makes victory all the more refreshing. Plus the whole democratic-peasant thing appeals to my inner romanticist.

gotta go with the nords.  their infrantry is better than any other in the game in my opinion.  even the warrior and veteran can hold their own in a fight.  but once you get a couple huscarls in the mix your unstoppable.    ive played with other mainly calvery based factions and i enjoyed running around with calvery parties.  however the last couple games ive played im finding it harder and harder to get away from the infrantry parties.    it just seems like you can be alot more tactical with the infrantry than calvery.  and epecially when your fighting agaisnt a heavy calvery army it doesnt take forever to finish the battle while everyone is chasing each other around.    just hold your force on a hill.  stand closer a couple times and watch the horses fall.      then you and the companions (who i do put on horses) can run around and crack the skulls of the routers.

the main downside to the nords is their archery sucks in open field.  they arnt too bad while defending a siege but i generally dont even bother recruiting them.    if i feel the need to add archers to my army ill go recruit some sharpshooters.    but other than that probably at least 90% of my main party is nords.

Nords all the way.

Living in sweden my self and i'm verry interested in the viking history and mythology and the Nords come pretty close to the former irl vikings.

And they can eliminate any army in the right hands so i'm pretty much stuck with them

I find it intresting that nord is the most popular when I thought the vast majority of people loved to use cavalry and husculars are such a pain to get.
