What is Warband?

I mean, everyone's talking about it... I feel kinda left out even if I'm a member for 6 months plus...

Is it an expansion to M&B? Is it a mod?

Neither of them it is a new version of m&b, you get more information about this interview

It's an expansion pack that will add, among other things:

-Multiplayer battles
-A new faction
-Better AI
-Upgraded graphics

Also a few other features..

Pick up a single throwing axe or javelin and throw it at enemy.
You can aim your couched lance a lot more (to the left side of your horse for instance)

Yeah.. Don't remember anything apart from that.

Do you know how it is said M&B may be made for consoles? How would you get mods? On the 360 would you have to download off live with microsoft points?

M&B is not going to consoles. Porting it onto a console isn't as easy as porting a mod to another version of the game. You'd have to rewrite most of the code to fit the new operating system, as well as purchase a very expensive (even by the standards of game developers) developers kit to make it work.

If it is qoing to consol which i doubt they wont get mods like in oblivion yes 360 get thing like wizard tower but its a lot other (fan made) mods that only is 4 PC

First off...

/slap! Come on man! See the news at the top of the forum titled, "New Warband Interview at StrategyInformer".

As for the console mentions... it is NOT planned for the console yet so stop talking about it. If and when that happens, by all means moan and cry, or argue about it. But let's not turn this thread into another "one of those".

I'm not really sure if it was confirmed or not. I mean, I think I remember them saying that they wanted to keep it as mod friendly as possible.

Yeah, they said there would be a new faction. How would that make it less mod-friendly?

For one, the party numbers for centers would be popped down, assuming the new faction got it's own territory, hence adding scenes. Also, added IDs in the codes might cause an hour or two of delay, going through the code and changing everything referencing the new faction, and on top of that there'd probably be another page of banners, so right there that's added scene props, map icons, tableau materials, and meshes.

It's not too big a deal though, it'd only take a few hours to sort it out, and if you're organized and know what to look for it might take less than an hour.

new improved multiplayer version... everyone is eager to smash each other heads in in these forums, because most of us are boasting about 'killing x troops of faction x" etc..

Better AI? I hope they scrapped the old code and created something new... Is there even any AI in M&B?

As for the multiplayer... i dunno, i doubt it'll ever work very well. If they somehow implemented it all into the actual game, so you had players running around like lords/kings etc. Then it would be good, but just fighting? That might be "fun" for 5-10 minutes.

if there is no AI then the bots would be objects in different poses that would most likley be unbalanced and fall over.... it would like playing with action figures... but in a computer game...... even your own charecter has to have AI to work properly.....
