What is up with the Crappy Loot and Equipment available for sale to way later in the game.

Who knows, maybe Taleworlds will turn over a new leaf this time and actually pull back the curtain. More likely they will just give more information on what the player has direct control over, ei fiefs, workshops, caravans and let the player intuit the rest of the system. After all, one of the main selling points of the game was "making profit from chaos". Plus, Its going to be a struggle between giving a good experience to players who want to interact directly with the economy and those who want nothing to do with it.
 
Wasn't it also tied to your player level in warband but levelling up wasn't so much of a chore that it wasn't really noticeable
