I don't think it matters what we're driven by. I simply accept that I'm here and go along with this "universe" and it's stuff.

We can't say and I doubt any of us are omniscient to know enough to say what the hell is going on. You may think you are omniscient for some odd reason (high on acid, mayhaps?) but thinking and being are two different things entirely.

So basically, think about it all you want as I do, but soon after I hope you'll be doing things like playing Mount&Blade because we all know how important Mount&Blade is!

Thats probly because I was high on acid when I wrote it.

But I can't really remember that night very well.

It is simply the survival instinct that is inherited from our ancient ancestors. We are no matter what animals and we carry the instincts that we can not control. Just a simple example you can not hold your breath until you die because your body is "programmed" to live and thus when you hold your breath your body's stimulus in this case is giving unbearable amount of pain and discomfort thus you refrain from doing that action. As you might have noticed almost all people who kill them-selves do it by instantenious actions such as guns and jumping down bridges. In such cases the body replies with the good old instinct of survival and fear but civilization and the fearsome brain has blunted many instincts and can get control over such things (while it can not control pain and reflexes). A full harakiri for example is a very hard wat of suicide and I believe without the help of another person it usually is left uncompleted (while still killing the person).

As far as fear of death motivating people... motivating them to do what? Not get run over? I dont think the fear of death is linked very closely to ambition. Ambition is probably linked to the fear of failure given to them by their parents. Excessive ambition is probably linked to either a great love of your profession or its rewards or some complicated psychological problem that drive someone to compensate for a loss or sense of being inadequate.
