What is everyone driven by?

I'd like to know your opinions on this question. What is the basest motivation that drives people to live. I think it is the fear of death. People fear death because they fear the unknown. Until you die you don't know what death is really like. People fear the unknown because it is the unknown. People try to cheat death any way they can which ends up being immortality through reproduction.

Even though many people know the world is getting too full they still reproduce. Why? To gain immortality through their genes. Why do people "express themselves" with their clothes? To attract a potential mate. Don't say you just want people to know how you feel. That's total crap. You want certain people to know how you feel. You want certain people to like you. Why? Couldn't you just mate with anyone and have immortality? You could, but that's not good enough for people. People want their mate to be compatible with them. Why? So they don't fell like ****e for the rest of their lives once they've gained immortality of a sort.

This also explains why sex feels good. People who don't like it don't reproduce usually. If they don't they have no children to pass on the non-sexual traits. Even some who don't like it reproduce just to reproduce. What's the point? You won't be around but for a blink of an eye on any meaningful time scale. In fact, most people won't be around for a single century. What is a century compared to a universal time scale?

Some people might say, life is short so make the best of it. Wrong. Life goes on for a long time. Your life is short if you don't reproduce, but you are unwilling to face this fact. But still you reproduce. You reproduce because somewhere you know if you don't nobody will remember you. Why won't anyone remember you? There won't be anyone to remember you! Why does the fear of the unknown drive people to, in the end, becoming reproductive machines? It doesn't matter. You are just a reproducing machine.

Actually, I can't wait for death and find out if the afterlife and god are real, or reincarnation! both are a win win situation for me, if I reincarnate, I'll have a great life, (the more setbacks in this life, the better the next one will be) and if it turns out heaven and god are real, then I can have my revenge

there probably is no meaning to life, and the best thing to do is live it while finding something interesting to kill time. making yourself look superiour to others thru clothing, accesoires etc... is an interesting way of killing time, and so is finding a woman to stay with you for the rest of your life, seeing how time consuling woman are, death won't stay away so long

sex feels good, because it does. seeing how we have a million ways to prevent pregnancy, and seeing how this led to more instead of less sex, I'd say there is more to sex then just being productive little rabits

before i came to the conclusion that there is no meaning to life, I thought of the meaning of mankind, and I once concluded that we reproduce and live to reproduce becuase we are the destroyers, our purpose in life is to destroy all life, we do this by reproducing and inventing and building untill we destroyed the earth and ourselves, tough I believed that by then we expanded to space and colonies and simply fullfill our destiny as destroyers of all life.

so wich is it?

1 there is no meaning to life and the best thing to do is to find something interesting to do (my current opinion)

2 we are nothing but producing machines and only think of that not realizing the sillyness of it

3 we are nature's solution for her own mistake, we live to destroy all life (my old opinion)

The base motivation for all people is to spread their genes. People without this motivation have tended not to reproduce.

none

i have no reason to live. but i don't mind doing it anyway.

and i don't care about reproducing, i only care about the things you need to do to reproduce :D

You say you don't care about reproducing, but still like the acts that would lead to that if unprotected etc. So what you are saying is that you actually do, because contraceptives aren't an ingrained instinct into your brain. if they didn't exist you'd still want sex.

He's just saying he wants to screw, you don't really need to analize it.

I'm also completly unmotivated and unwilling to do anything, even put pants on during the day (unless there is a damn good reason to)

I also think your opinion on reproduction while intelligent is a bit selfish. Most people don't reproduce to be immortal, but to simply give something to someone. Morals, education, etc.

But since your question was about living and I went off topic, I'd say the reason I keep living is because I know at anytime I can give up and kill myself. So i'll keep moving for now.

Aach, Pavlov you are thinking too hard. People have more in common with pigs than chimps. When someone does something horrible just wonder why a wild hog would behave that way and it will make sense. Dr. Leakey just found the skull of some extinct variety of chimpanzee and no true scientist can prove me wrong.

What drives me you ask?

Food

Air

M&B

Hardcore porn

And ummm....O ya, pavlov with a shotgun aimed at the back of my head.

powerg8 has brought the drive to live into the conversation, air, food, water, shotguns who knows? Life is a mystery. Who am I? What am I? Where can I get good hamburger? I will die as a very poor man but can I get mummified? Just don't become one of those idiot Scientologists and maybe God can forgive you. OOhh oh go ahead Hubbard fans and burn me.

Let's think of it this way: Assuming evolution is true and assuming Xenu is NOT coming for us, people must be driven by the need to reproduce.

Microorganisms have no real imperative to reproduce as humans, so we can assume the creatures they evolved into did not all have the instinct to reproduce. The ones that did not have this instinct did not reproduce, and therefore did not pass this trait on to later generations. The ones that did reproduce eventually eveoled many pleasure nerves around the reproductive organs. This caused them to reproduce more, and evolve into having more of these nerve receptors.

This causes exponential reproduction and branching species. Eventually humans come to be through evolution. Because of the eons of evolution leading to their arrival they have the ingrained instincts to find food, water, and shelter. This allows them the time required to reproduce and raise their offspring. Thus, all base instincts lead back to the desire to reproduce.

Aha, yes of course it all makes sense now. I was just looking at one of my favorite websites called "George W. Bush or Chimpanzee." And he looks so much like them and he is human like me then I really am a monkey man. I am kinda furry now that I think about it. WOOOOHOOOOWOOOO. woot woot. Coco like banana.

Well i can sort of tell you what death is like. I have depression and a goth (sort of) and tried to kill myself a few times. The last time i tried i tried hanging but it didnt work. The support collapsed and i woke up lying on the floor with a bed over me. I passed out before a knew it. If the bed hadn't fell over (i have no idea what happened when i was unconcious) i'd be dead. So what was it like when i was out? well just like being asleep cause when i woke up i thought wtf happened? i didnt expect to wake up. I didnt however fly up to the ceiling and look down over my own body. So now you know what death is like. Sleeping, except forever.

The trouble with reincarnation is coming back as a fly or a maggot, I think that would be deppressing. How about those poor Hindus that thought Mcdonalds fries were not fried in animal lard.

you come back as a fly or maggot when you are evil like hitler or vanessa maes!

but when you had to endure setbacks like I have, your next life will be much better. if I reincarnate, I'll have a life of luxury and mistresses and wealth

this is a silly post.

it really doesnt matter. knowing doesn't improve your life. and you just can't know.

so get drunk/high/whatever and forget about it
