What happened to map position based battle terrain?

Yes Taleworlds made the engine, but they didn't make this game, tbf you're splitting hairs with this argument. It's like saying any game made with UE4 engine and assets was really just an Epic game.

Not really same comparison - UE4 games can be, play, feel and look radically different. Viking is clearly Warband with a fresh coat of paint -but is not a whole new game on the same engine.

Been away a while from the game, I noticed some time ago they were developing battle scenes to be matching with the map terrain, can't find anything about it anymore, what happened? was the feature scrapped?

The feature is still planned and in development. It is taking some time because of the scale of the change, and it is perhaps my fault that we shared details of this update a bit too soon! It will be coming to the game in a future update though and you can be sure we will announce it again when it arrives.

Yes, I suspected this feature would be large and take time, especially fine tuning and bug fixing. Keep up the good work.

Glad to hear that!

It'll take a while, it's a complex feature, so maybe the next patch or 2
It's not. It takes just a few good mappers a lot of effort to make the dream work. This was done in 2004 in Rome Total War, I think that we aren't asking for much here.

Of course, yet another feature that I was so looking forward to, being delayed for...whatever reason.

We have to take a lot of things into consideration when creating a scene, and especially with this new system that looks to mirror the campaign map, so I think you might be underestimating the work required.

I just hope you guys don't spend too much time making trees.
Because I don't like too many trees on the map.
???

From marketing standpoint this Major Feature will be released with Final Game release. As they say 2021 Q2 ?
No it won't. They said that they will release it in parts and only afterwards add in more missing maps. If they stay with this plan then they have to release it early just because calling it a finished game when you don't even have all the Maps in would be pretty hard.

the project scope is too broad comparing to other features. I thinks its the most anticipating feature that will make more people comeback to play again. If campaign tiles were to be moddable, then the Community Artists could finish the job at higher standards.
Can you name another feature that is created with complex mechanisms which experiences are game changing ? (Only SP) Havent played since ~1.4 version.

I would say order of Battle system and full moral rework(the reason why we have no Banners yet)

Does the new terrain system also involve a renewal of the strategic map? In my opinion it should be done

You mean the campaign map like world map? If so, I don´t think they will change it and as far as I know they haven´t announced it. RIP correct position of Sargoth!

It was not confirmed but I would say that it could happen. At some point they said they planed to correct the citys position but thex would do it with a Patch that would break all the safes anyway because this change requieres a new game to work. So it would be logical to do it with a major update like the BTS becasue this could also cause incompatability with saves.

And when they don't do it in 1.7, you'll say they'll do it in 1.8. So why didn't they do it in 1.6 or 1.5 or 1.4 etc.? This is just so much wishful thinking.

That right there is a damning evidence. They know about it since EA, it's easy to fix, but they simply won't do it.
Such attention to detail and polish!
I've commented on it countless times in the past... ??

Mod Calradia Expanded since its release on 9 May 2020 already fixed that problem (adding high doses of beautification which Taleworlds seems to be putting on the TODO list indefinitely) and that to this day Sargoth is still in that wrong location is the epitome of the Bannerlord experience...

...things of "easy implementation" take ages to be revised and corrected because the planets have not aligned in the monthly meeting.

... Taleworlds priorities... I guess... ???????????

Try to report it as a bug, so it's in their system - if it's not already there.
I'm sure they meant well though! :iamamoron:
I fail to see how "but it will break saves" is a good argument.
1. They are going to do it anyway, so why postpone it to a worse time.
2. They don't care about other things players are annoyed about. Why start at saves? It's another excuse for rampant procrastination.
3. They'll need to fix map balancing anomalies because of the move, so they'll need as much player feedback as possible. Doing it just before a release will just result in embarassing problems on release and day one patches.

Do you want me to play the saxophone? ?:iamamoron: Come this way.
