Swadians are the best faction for beginners, its the easy-roll-up-the-map faction, at least in native.

Nords have the best heavy Infantry, Vaegirs got the best archers, Rhodok are the best for masoch... erm, i ment are the best for have a challenging gameplay, Khergits are made to tease the player^^.

Ain't this the wrong place for such a thread, anyway? There's a bigger forum outside the modding one, folks, although I daresay not many use it. And as far as "greater offense and defense" goes, the Nords are your best bet. You can just screw the commands and let them go wild hacking shields and horses apart.
