What do you think is essential?

Just what the topic says. A lot of the threads have 'nice, but not high on my list' comments, so basically I'm asking what is? And be specific, don't just say 'more depth', say how you think it should be added.

my list:

1 Better models: I think that the warhammer should be made of metal, the plate armor should be more masculine, and the double axe should look like someone could wield it.

2 A skirmish mode: Being able to fight custom battles is something that would suite this game well.

Would be fun with more Specific orders.

Lets say i could select my archers, point at a hill, click, and they will go to the hill and fire from there, while ordering my knights to flank the enemy.

Well. i know this is probably too much work, but still, would be fun to add some strategic element to the game.

heres my priorities

1. Gameplay. This is broad but any details that affect gameplay, like the fighting system (i'd like a little more complex), the AI (there needs to be much harder AI options), and a the other little features to the game. I made a topic called FIGHTING AND ARMOR and this kinda goes over some gameplay aspects I'd like to see. Also, a storyline, would be nice or a little direction (the war becomes dynamic).

2. Multiplayer. I know it's highly unlikely that it'll be in this M&B, so im looking more for an expansion, sequal or mod. It's just that multiplayer can really make or break a game (though this game is awesome right now)

3. Graphics. The reason this is at the bottom is i'm a gamplay over graphics guy, but i do welcome great graphics. My take on this is if you cant get ahold of a new graphics engine (SpeedTree, Unreal 3, etc.), do everything possible with what you have. Bump map the hell out of everything: Armor, grass, trees, walls, everything (take a look at the brick walls in the 20 min trailer of oblivion, they look like they have 3D chunks out of it, but its actually really good bumpmapping). Really good bumpmapping can take just about any object and make it look good. Enviroments are big too. Make some 2D grass objects and cover the battlefield with them, for grassland or wildnerness areas. AA and AF options would be nice. Maximize polygons. Decals are a very nice addition (wall and armor marks from weapons). This is just a few graphical ideas that could be done.[/u]

This is also something that I would like a lot. Battlezone had a good command system, IIRC.

Number 1 most definate - having the option to keep horses on the battlefield without them disappearing when the rider is killed.
Number 1.5 would definately be enhancing horses in terms of horse customisation, personal horse stats, horse training etc. (As far as I am concerned, this is currently the main thing which separates this game from the rest, and should be enhanced on)

Graphics are not a priority for me, but making models look more relistic, as well as having minor graphical details like red blood streaming from the place where an arrow shaft is protruding from, would be an eye-candy ::)

1. Reduce the speed of backpedaling
2. Better(more) battlefield commands
3. Morale

I believe these should be high on the to-do list. The first two shouldn't even be too hard to implement. Morale might prove a little trickier, but as Armagan seems to have planned to include it at some point, it should be doable.

I'm not gonig to suggest much as it will be or has been suggsted, so,
1) geldings, stallions, mares, mules, DONKEYS!
1.5) Donkeys, pretty pretty please? My dad at first tohught the saddle horse looked like a dinkey, and it kind of does...
2) your own castle thing with some specific quests stuff. And wich can be heavily modified into da coolest castle eva!
3) boats!

1. A story, with aims, goals and rewards.

2. A better loot system, i hate losing loads of men fighting hard baddies yet recieving little of their equiptment and none of their good stuff.

3. Falling damage from horses.

4. Under and Over armour slots.

5. Fighting in tows, possibly on set missions.

6. More town structure, with civvy clothing possible - maybe just under armour showing. Gives more speed.

7. Your own land with facilities.

Not much then really :)

Battlezone! Oh what a game. Anyone still play that. I've half a mind to reinstall it.

Anyway, custom battles are top of my list, and thena stroy line of some sort.

1- Better AI and better combat system. An overall rebalancing of its basic functions (damage, armor, locations), of the fighting system (backpedaling, crouched lances, horsemen, xbows), and of the general AI behaviour (squad tactics both on yours and opponent's side, backpedaling, missile/throw weapons, lined gang-up mobs) expecially for NPC heroes.

2- Castle sieges, or at least buildings and indoor battlefields.

3- More of everything static. Such as more armors, weapons, horses, heroes (like Mag7), but expecially more foes within the existing factions (see hugemods for example with the khergit hordes) and more completely new factions.

3- Better background and improved implementation of existing features, such as terrains and cties, so they're different each other. A larger traveling map with bridges, special locations, castles, towns, fortresses.

Hard to propritise my wishlist but here goes:

A dynamic world where the player characters actions have consequences. For example:
+ towns and territory change hands
+ bandits can be beaten once and for all so they do not endlessly spawn

Features on the world map (+increased modding tools so the community can help out):
+ Bridges, stone circles, villages, roads etc

Custom battle mode

Defendable campsites for player parties and attackable campsites for enemy groups

Ability to set Ambushes and be ambushed

Better enemy AI

More characters and more realistic character interaction

A more detailed Calradia.
+ More story
+ More history
+ More mythos

Some kind of abstraction for seiges

***

Multiplayer - I know, I know - but this is still the development I would most like to see happen - because it would be the most fun imo.

More control over your troops (groups, basic formations/strategies, maybe a clickable map for orders)

archery/jousting tournaments, maybe incorporated in a travelling fair

enemy 'bosses' holding unique items (need to sort out the loot function first)

Id have to agree with some form of tactics, like the battlezone thing.

Custom battle or Expanded tourney with ladder system...

1) Tactics, most notably squadbased.
1.5) Perhaps this could be made easier by a more detailed order system. I would love to be able to issue orders to just my archers, or certain groups of men, for instance. Tell my archers to hold flanking groundand fire while my infantry advance, for instance. Maybe link increased groups or order types to tactics skill.
2)Dynamic world, as well as expanded detail. Villages, bridges, etc (a bridge battle against some dark hunter horde would be a very nice high level challenge)
3) Falling damage from killed horse. At the speed some of those hunters are going, they stand a damn good chance of breaking their necks, or at least being stunned longer than they currently are.
