Recruit
Hey,

I haven't fully understand this concept:
In times of "piece",
What do the lords do in villages? do they recruit? do they buy food?
what are their actions in castle, which differ from fiefs?
And does it matter if the fief belong to their faction or not? are there "other" actions under these terms?

Many thanks.

In villages, lords recruit, buy food, create new things in their villages such as trading posts, and managing income from the village.

They do about the same in castles, except that they are managing a much larger population, meaning that there is more income being generated. They also can order the construction of new things within the castle, just like a fief can in a village. The only downside is that you can't recruit from castles.

But, usually the lords of castles also own a nearby town, which was gifted to them by the king upon oath.

Factions don't really matter unless they are at war.

I hope this answered your question!

I was under the impression that lords don't improve their fiefs, at least not in Native.  Although once you improve a fief, the improvements stay there and any lord who later gains that fief (for example, if another faction captures it) will benefit from your improvements.

Lords recruit from villages, castles and towns during both peacetime and war.

Lords do frequently hold feasts in their castles/towns.  If the feast is in a town, there are tournaments several times a day as long as the feast lasts.

If you ask a lord in his castle/town what he is doing, he will tell you: recruiting, spending some time with his household, resting, etc.  Single lords will often visit other castles/towns to "court a fair lady."  Marriages often take place during feasts, although you are not notified about this unless you have a mod like Diplomacy where marriages are announced (in the case of Diplomacy, they are announced just like battle defeats, captures, and fief assignments).
