With summer coming I'd thought I'd make what I've always wanted, a decent chinese themed game. I can do the models easy, and hopefully that will speak well enough to get some coding support. Here is what I have planned, and wanted to know what people think.
The main thing I plan on doing is making a rather unique map.
It will be divided between forests, grasslands, and towns.
Yes I said towns, as in open field towns.
The center of the map will be a massive city, the open field will be the town. If you fight someone in this area you fight in a sort of street area with buildings and what not.
The tree's of forest area's will have platforms built in. With higher jumping players will be able to ambush from here. Though this will be more of a multiplayer thing for when the expansion is released.
Arena's will be far more dynamic, a big question I have though is if I can make ground hurt (like spikes)? lots of platforms and weird set ups. Will have NPC and player versions for when the multiplayer expansion is released.
Range will be regulated to one type, Chi. The "weapon" for this will be training which costs ALOT. Units with this are at the end of a big tree and will be generally difficult to get.
Combat will be mostly melee. One handed swords, staffs, and fists only. When I played the Ygdrassil mod I saw that you can change the animation of your swings. I plan on doing similar.... as soon as I figure out how to. Athletics adds much more speed, maps are smaller, and you can jump real high like a in Kung-fu movie. Fists will be able to block and you will be able to buy "fist" weapons.
Go ahead and say it will never get made, honestly I may not be able to devote that time I'd like to to this. I will hopefully have an arena model ready once summer vacation starts.
