What Developer Blogs would you like to read about?

Users who are viewing this thread

Hey everybody,

As many of you also have expressed, i find the majority of the blogs a little light and not exciting at all, so i thought we should help Callum in finding topics or inspiration for the future dev blogs.

Instead of just ranting on about "The blogs are awful", maybe you can in a constructible way tell him what topics you would like to hear about.

Therefore i thought we could all write topics for Callum to pick from or draw inspiration from.

Ill start:  :shifty:

1) Family structure - Weve had a blog about inheritance, but i would like to know more:
-What task´s can your Wife/Husband perform - Alone on his/her own accord, or what can we make them do - Go make a better relationship with  this Character/clan/Faction for example.
-Will you be able to make your son/daughter specialist in smt? - Spying, warrior, trader and more. (Shaping your future playable character)
-How does your family fit into the clan aspect of the game? - Can you make your brother go to another clan or is your whole family in 1 clan. (Influence different clans in faction or even different
        factions)

2) Playing as an outlaw/raider/rogue/criminal - what are your options? How can you make money? How can you influence the world events?

3) Battlefield Blog - Formations in Bannerlord? - Reinforcements in Bannerlord, do they spawn in formation or just in a huge pile like Warband? - How many captains can you have in an army?
          - What if your general dies in battle, will a captain be promoted?  - How will you retreat in bannerlord? Can you select a small army to stand fast while other units retreat?
          - 3 way battle? - aiding a convoy, how will you spawn into the battle?

4) Kingdom management blog - How do you get other lords to perform certain task? - Can you get another faction to aid you in a war?  - Alliances with other factions? other kinds of agreement with other
factions like trade agreement? or banning some items of trade(to limit income to a certain faction)

5) Cheating in bannerlord? - ive seen some cheats, but would like to know what your plans are for cheating.

The above is just from the top of my head, if you guys/girls like it i will make some more. :fruity:

Thank you in advance

This whole thing

I like blogs about game Lore.
I'd like to know how the game reveals this to the player, actually. I don't want to have to read lots of out-of-game wikis, blogs or game-encyclopedia pages in order to feel a sense of connection to the gameworld.

I'd like some hints about the kinds of hardware we might need to support really large battles. I believe it's been a while since anything on this topic has come out and the consumer CPU landscape has changed quite a bit recently. Maybe another engine blog, focusing on that kind of thing?

How about a blog on the progress of the game?
I dunno,it would be super cool from them to tell community how's the game coming along,it is 2019 and I think it would be nice for the developers to just say how is the game coming along generally,I am not asking for any release date or anything, although any information about that would be welcome

I agree. I'm also interested in seeing what the devs are spending most of their time on :shifty:

Combat especially melee, i'd like to see the different animations for every type of weapon and overall have everything detailed, footwork, moving, etc..

I would like to see a development blog which talks about the end game, why would I want to conquer Calradia if I can also just get a kingdom and enjoy my endless war?

The concept of an endgame is a hole in the ground, eventually you will stop digging and end up somewhere nowhere.
What you want is longevity. I played Dota 2 for over 7000 hours... how is it possible that it doesn't get boring? Simple -> unpredictability. 7000 hours into the game I still get surprised by things I have never seen before. In the case of dota, it is player intelligence and the unique combination of hundreds of heroes + items + individual play styles + hero skill choices.

In the case of single player, it is a bit harder due to lack of AI intelligence. IMHO, for Bannerlord obviously the biggest contributor to longevity are mods but also procedural generation. The more randomness the better (but sensible randomness) because the player will always be stimulated by new things. If you think about it, mods are basically manual procedural generation. There is always something new added by the community, so people keep coming back.

I'd like to read about developer blogs in which they state that they're wrapping everything up and releasing next month, anything else is uninteresting... :iamamoron:

Because of our hardcoded rodent instinct. Hoard up as much as you can to don't suffer in winter.

I too get surprised when I hear about player intelligence in Dota.
