What character do you like to RP as?

I usually start out as a mysterious traveler from Barclay well versed in the art of wielding a sword... Confident in his skill and the strength of his arm, He enters Pendor ready to show his stuff....... and getting his ass handed to him over and over and over.

Yeah this game is hard.

I don't know, the problem with roleplaying in PoP for me is that if I do that, I want it to be spot on. I.E. I love the barclay units (who doesn't), but I also love horse archery. I've never seen a barclay unit with a bow and arrow or a barclay horse archer.

Try using a crossbow. I used to implement horse archery in all my play-throughs previously, but it got so boring after acquiring a Noldor or Rune bow. Or you can RP a Barclay Conquistador. Morningstar, Silver Claymore, Great Lance and a Charger and you can start mowing down enemies. Makes a nice change from just sniping from range.

Spartan, where is that image from ? The one you have on your signature, not avatar.

And on topic....

I haven't roleplayed yet, but I do plan to in the near future, as a sadistic arch-inquisitor. I plan to meddle a bit with the occult, to enable all companions and rename each and every one of them like "Inquistior Rayne", or "Practical Donovan" (who gets this reference I wonder ?) And I plan to import a red assasin cowl and robe from Blood and Steel Mod. I shall bring pictures...It's gonna be epic.

Each time I start a new game I always have either a crossbow or a bow, but I do get tired of crossbows faster due to their limited usefulness.

Question - When people mention meddling with the occult, how would I go about that? And is that only the Snake Cult? I finally got the Eventide knights but I've already taken 90% of the map, so that felt somewhat pointless =/.

My RP varies each game.

Previously I started in the Fierdsvain area and RPed the Dawn Protectorate which was semi-based on the Aftermath RP.  I've had a change of heart and I traded in both my Dawn Knight gear and Noldor gear for Barclay equipment.  I've spent a few hours roaming around for Barclay mercenaries and hoping for a heartbeat quest.  I tried qualis gem betting, but after 10+ tries where I always lose the gem and still haven't gotten Barclay units, I'm giving that up.

So shortly I'll begin RPing the Barclay Viceroy of Pendor!

"Do not meddle with the occult."
                    =
"Do not mess with the game files."

That's exactly what they expect from you

ah but they dont expect my enmass hero adventurer death ball. eat 350 of these to the face come at me noldor!

I've got two main saves going right now. In one I'm trying to go the honorable hero route, out to save Pendor and start his faction from scratch after a few years as a mecenary.

In the other I used the character exporter for the first time, taking a level 20ish Nord character I played in Diplomacy Mod that was a bit of a raider. I'm rping him as having been ship wrecked on Pendor after a failed raid with little equipment and money. His eventual goal is to be tough enough to take on small Noldor Parties and become a member of the Order of Eventide (I suppose Ebony Gauntlet might be more suitable but wanted to base myself out of Singal). After getting beaten and captured by a heretic party I decided that the experience affected him, marking a turn for the worse as he's been exposed to the worship of Erida Occisor.

I also use them to test out different builds and play styles, with the second as an infantrymen with a big axe.

Since 3.6 is out, why not bring this back up for new ideas?

Currently I am playing the good guy for once. If I collect taxes, I make the town love me again. If a belligerent drunk attacks me, I kick him in the crotch until he passes out. My 2 adventurers and I travel Pendor helping peasants, delivering messages, and kicking crotches!

In my first campaign I've tended to approach RP casually. Its fun to imagine what the scenery would like up close and in more detail as you wander endlessly around the map's different climates, picture your army moving as an actual mass of individual soldiers and supplies, that sort of thing. As far as how RP informs my actions, I've gone with "what would I personally do in this situation?" Or at least "what do I THINK I would do?" rather than a pre-created fictional persona, mainly because I didn't want to be too restricted my first time through the game.

For my 3.6 campaign I actually do want to try RPing as a character, which I think will be more fun now that I have a better understanding of (roughly) what to expect at each stage of the game.

Extra challenge: Camp through the night unless you are being pursued.

I usually adapt on every situation the games throws at me for example
1) First time I always roleplay as a professional mercenary company
2) Sometimes I just go to the empire, knock some snake cult people, hardly searching for their gear and then pretending to be a snake cult follower supporting them everytime they fight.
3) Same with heretics, however sometimes I just join the eventide knights, you know always worshipping the same one
4)Simple vassal, just join the faction you like, simple as that
5) Pretending to be an inquisitor, just joining knighthood of dawn and start looting villages without reasons at all lol.

Violent and barbaric tyranic duke who loots any village just to hear the mothers crying while you raep their sons and daughters, then force the male farmers to raep everyone, and when I get bored of that, burn the village, then go kill some Noldors because they're humping my castle's garden.

And hail King Ulric of Sarleon, the rightful ruler of all Pendor, and a bit of Mattenheim.
