I agree with horsemen and swordsman but i think jannisarry is better marksman, anyway:
PICK SWEDEN

Cavalry: Swedish Rieter Can and does kill Hussars.

Marksmen: Lifeguard

Infantry: Swedish Swordsman

@wannyboy
Just wondering, what do you like about Janissarys?

Sweden is kinda OP...

Notice that when you pick up a weapon "x" and compare it to a "Swedish X" it gains attack power. attack range and melee speed with no drawbacks. They have the best troops with the best equips.

Best Cavalry:

Boyar Royal Cavalry

I picked these guys because even though their armor is a little lighter they have much better weapon selection in my opinion.  They can do really well in a scrum and I enjoy that about these guys.  They always seem to live longer than my reiters too.

Best Musketmen:

Janissary or Serduk

The Janissary is my first love because of his balance of  high attack skills with musket and melee weapons and the power strike to  back it up.  These guys are very mean at ranged and in close.  The Serduk have 150 starting musket skill with some power strike too, and these guys are a seriously mean musket line.  With the new changes they have gotten that much better.  If you dont believe me, take a Cossack castle on hard sometime.

Best Infantry:

German Infantry Pikeman

I know it a shocking choice, but in a real army I feel pikemen have much higher utility than swordsmen, especially in the open field.  These ones have great armor and stats and can hold one hell of a pike line.  I was convinced of their awesomeness recently playing Multiplayer captain mode as Poland.  These guys, working with the player, are a match for anything.  After that I started using these in single player too and they have not disappointed.

hmm in your swedish unit guide you don't realy talk about those german pikemen. You say reiters are much better to pick so i followed your advise... should i start recruiting those pikemen anyway?

Ah yes well the German Pikeman is a regional Swedish unit.  The German INFANTRY Pikeman is a Polish unit which can be had in every city, it is much easier to get.  They are almost the same name but different units.  When it comes to stats the Polish German pikeman is better than the Swedish German one. They are different units so if you are the Swedes I still recommend the Reiter.

Note the one I said is my favorite is of the Polish variety, and part of my love of this unit is because it can be recruited in all cities and it is awesome at holding the line, especially now with the formation changes.

I've only been able to find the Polish version in two places; I guess they need to construct the proper building(s). And they better hurry it up too, it's getting tougher and tougher to reinforce armies, what with how many settlements we're losing

hmm cerlin, those stats would be usefull for your unit guides, could u try including them?

I am planning to do it.  All of the info is on screenshots I've already taken.  All it takes is me sitting down and typing them onto the guide.  I would like to have that done this week for the three I've already finished.

  who uses infantry.  i have mostly marksmen with about 1/5th cavalry.

That works for me until I get a full cavalry charge in the face....Then I buy pikes again.  ><

i think i prefer 10% swedish reiters, 40% marksmen, 30% pikemen and 10% swordsmen as swedish dude

I joined the Polish and have pretty much trouble to get even a few Swedish Reiter or Lifeguards. I can only recruit them from prisoners via the camp menu or from captives after a battle. Both happens rarely, of course.

Anybody knows a way to get more of them?
