What about the .exe?

Hi, i was just wondering. The setup you get to install warband beta, its just an original setup? what if someone just upload the exe on the internet? can everyone install from that exe that you got from taleworldsthen?

Attention! Im not planing to do so, im not asking because i want to know if it works, i want to know because im curious and worried that anyone can just join the beta and ruin everything! I dont understand how it works, thats all =)

When you try to join a game it registers your serial key. So if your Serial key was not picked to be in the beta then it wont work. Atleast i think thats how it is..

In fact I noticed the download link not to be protected in any way, so if you knew the link you probably could download it.. Main problem here: what would someone not in the beta do with it? Without a valid serial, it would not work anyway, because according to the server messages it is "verifying serial key" before joining a game. No chance there.

I am afraid you are wrong. When you click the download link you are prompt to type in your serial key. Although im sure there are ways around it.

As I said, if you knew the link to the exe, you could just download it. The problem is: without entering the key, you are not given the link. Just saying that there is no additional password protecting the link to the exe itself, just on the page which gives you the link. And I really hope I'm not breaking any forum rules by pointing that out. Probably will take only five seconds for the first kiddie to start begging people for the download link

Okay, thanks. but say, if someone is using My copy of M&B after i did. do register the serial. and that person gets the setup too?
So if someone upload the setup + his serial? and someone downloads a copy of M&B, uses the valid serial. installing the beta. trying to join, doesnt it work then? If thats so, that means i cant use the beta on 2 computers in the same house on my serial`? =P thats good!

Ok i would stop there...you need to ask the devs about the same serial key for 2 computers..there was a Thread about it but i really dont think your allowed to do that.. but maybe you are..
