I have a chance to learned there are sensor chips from toshiba and other company which wii-mote based on. The basic idea is to locate the orientation of your object based on detecting earth mag. field, and sense movement based on an accelearation sensor chip.
It might be possible to use wii-mote really as a sword or other weapon, to control lance tip, sword swing, and bow aiming, and the counterpart as a glove to control horse or walking. I'm not very sure, you will need to get some technical of the wii-mote detail to decide if it can be done. Otherwise you may need to handcraft one and write all the drivers and hacks, which could be a very painful process.
