Wetlands terrain

I'd like to suggest adding a new terrain type, wetlands, swamp, marsh or whatever your preferred term is.  Besides adding a more realistic look to the world map the value of this type of terrain to infantry facing cavalry should be obvious.

What I picture is an area of mixed land and pools of water.
Quickie aerial view of a battlefield map for demonstration purposes.

For the battle map I suggest the following changes.

Terrain generator tweaked so the land doesn't rise much higher than the water level.  i.e. no steep banks like seen in Native.
Terrain generator tweaked to produce water in random pools over the entire battlemap rather than a few defined rivers.
Land terrain is always "mud" the same as caused by the rain weather effect.
Change the water color to a algae green or muddy brown and remove the current(flow).

The world map would need a wetland terrain added and proper graphics.

Good idea!
It would be fun to see cavalry get bogged down in that kind of terrain, especially if your are playing Rhodoks...

Absolutely.  I'd *kill* to see good wetland/marsh/bog as part of the landscape - ideally as part of a much denser range of terrain types, from coastlines, valleys, marshes, etc, combined with a much tighter texturing for the landscape in the world map.

but for bogland, I'd love to see landscapes like

this,

(quite marked by people... caldaria seems quite settled, after all)

but also with some wild areas, like this

and with an overall appearance like:

but it'd probably involve a massive redesign of the worldmap/battle-map interface

Good idea!
obviously walking through wetlands should slow movement on the main map, and maybe make it so it has more chance to be foggy.

Yes. This is a very good idea, and one that I have often had myself (but was too lazy to suggest ). I always thought of the land of the Rhodoks as being rather swampy.

well, they sure smell the part.

the snowy part off the map to should be slower movement to
and the texture could be raised up a bit so it gives the impression off thick snow

I like. Definitely. It would mean more tactical advantages to play out which is always a good thing.
I can't imagine it'd be hard either. Terrain height already varies by terrain type, and designing a new (or tweaked) map for wetlands is a cinch for any half-decent texturer.
