I mean if we go by historical standards, arrows weren't even that great against armor. Javelins had the advantage of damaging the enemy's equipment, making shields unusable for example.

yes I just read that about javelins... that's honestly pretty dope. Would be a great, useful mechanic against heavy infantry with shield in Bannerlord. Or at least if a javelin would insta-destroy the smaller/weaker shields/make them unusable. Other than that, which I'm not sure TaleWorlds would implement (even though it would be a nice mechanic), I just hope for thrown weapons to be viable again damage-wise and fun to use, and of course in lower numbers so that the game doesn't become what it was at the beginning. I think it makes sense for crossbows to be king (they're very deadly weapons), and for bows to be weaker (with maybe the exception of longbows which should be strong), and then thrown weapons in very small amounts but very deadly as well, especially the javelins. The reason javelins fell out of favor in time was because they required more training to use properly than longbows/crossbows and they weren't as good against cavalry, and those 2 were simply more effective. But javelins definitely played their part and were deadly weapons and should remain that way, for both immersion and gameplay purposes. I hope in future patches I will never have to look at a javelin stuck in someone's head and they're still acting like it's just part of daily, normal life
 
I wonder: why cannot the servers set 'rules' for damage and keep the vanilla MP game as designed? If you have a server that states 'javelins nerfed to 1/3 or 2/3 damage' you might attract some players and others that loath this would go elsewhere. Every actor his stage with a simple click on a checkbox. I mean - you can do that in single-player (damage amount)

custom servers will come with time. There is a finite number of manhours they have.

The hybrid aspect (melee / ranged weapon) of javelins is also undervalued (melee damage / handling of javelins are too low in game).

i think that it depends on the specific era, what type of armour, and the quality of the armor.
if you take a longbow against plate armour, like you said, it can't penetrate at all. maybe a dense
in the armour.
on the other hand if you shoot a warbow-longbow (more than 100 lb of draw weight),
it will, if the shot is well timed, go through mail, and gambeson. but not through plate.

there is a vid, that tests plate armor vs longbow. the bow the guy uses is a massive 150 dw
longbow, and is reffered that he can shoot up to 200 d.w.. but anyway, check the bow, it's like a tree!
