Well... I guess I know where I stand with my faction....

So we are at war with the Nords again...as a vassal of the Vaegirs I am not shocked with that.. I go through all the trouble of taking Alburq Castle only to have Ragnar and his merry band show up just after the battle is over to siege it.

My casualties taking the castle were minimal.. I had 93 troops left a good chunk of which were guards and archers (I didn't want to have a heavy cav army if I got stuck in the castle) he had 183.. I decided to stand my ground and fight it out since I was hoping to have the castle awarded to me.

The battle.. almost went well. We lost and I was taken prisoner but Ragnars forces were crushed.. he limped away with only a dozen men. I was held captive in Alburq castle and not a day had gone bye before the Vaegir army showed up... wish they had better timing but whatever, the castle is retaken.

I remain prisoner for 9 DAYS AFTER the castle was in our hands... I killed in excess of 400 troops taking and holding the castle, expanded my factions lands... and they thank me by not letting me out of prison???

I hope they just forgot to check if anyone was down there

Nah, man, they didn't. But it gets worse. The game didn't show it, but they all came down there every day and took turns using you as their little man-*****.

War with the Nords going bad... Swadia declares war on us as well and the truce with the Khergits just expired... To top things off despite having the support of 12 lords I did not get Alburq castle and now Yargolek wants to hold a feast...

That settles it.. I am off to find Valdym the Bastard.

It seems Lords like to hold feasts in all ouy war. I had the same with Sultan Hacks-alot

Honestly... I had very little problems in this area with any of the factions except the Nords... apparently the Vaegir fat cats share the same love of feasting when they should be fighting as their enemy does.

Ah well... I tracked Valdym down in Velucia, now to finish putting my mercenary army together (expensive but puts most faction armies to shame in my opinion) and will soon begin marching for Vaegir lands.

Well basically you have to either take over every castle/town or convert all the lords (which occasionally come with their holdings as well).

If I can I usually do not bother with recruiting too many of the lords, most of hte time I can take over the faction with only 2 or 3 helping me. The reason I don't bother with the rest is when the old faction is destroyed (as in you succeeded) all of those lords join up with you.

At this point I find it important to have unclaimed lands as you will not keep them around for too long if they have no fiefs. The biggest benefit to doing things this way is if you want specific lands you can easily get them without starting your own kingdom.

Last time I deposed Ragnar I kept Sargoth, Thir, and whatever castle that is on the little island whos name escapes me (think the village was named kwyne or something like that) for myself. The rest went to Lethwin and the few lords who joined up with us.
