How about weather effects and go into the four seasons
Winter, Spring, Summer, Fall...

Winter- of course snow effects Ice (river freezes up) Pirates fall on thier arse, and play around with the cost of things ex(Furs and Oil Become Very Valuble)

Spring- rain and such (furs and such become cheap)

Summer- Dry ex(you move faster by water)

Fall- Mix of rain and snow (Oil becomes expensive, food becomes expensive)

i think someone read my post

hey thats sparked me off again, dynamic weathering.

if the snow falls, it blocks up the tunnel, so you have to go around, if there is lightning, it ruins the forest, if there is heavy snow, it destroys the bridge, OR
there is battle going on on the bridge, and to cross, you need to fight.

but the prices is good idea and such, maybe we could discuss this idea and make it better.

Sorry not about the season but does weather affect performance in game, or is it just cosmetics?

You asking if weather effects will hurt your FPS? If so, then you will probably notice a slight hit to performance, but it shouldn't be much. But it does depend alot upon how well its programmed. Farcry was well made and as so, looked great and ran on lower end systems, where as Battlefield 2 looks only averagish and takes a super computer(crappy programming). In any case, if weather effects are added i'm sure there will be a new option to dissable them.

Oh...heh...i'm a smart one! Well, i've seen it rain before, and it doesn't seem to affect your character in any way. It would be very easy to code penalties to your character based on different types of weather, so we might see it added.

it appears randomly sometimes. i like it, it looks totaly badass to ride with your dark knights against a swandian warparty in the rain. you have to watch it to see what i mean.

Has anyone watched the trailer for the upcoming Legend of Zelda?

If M&B had environmental effects like that... damned awesome.

I really do think this would be neat to have seasons in the game, it doesnt have to go as extreme as the zelda game but it woiuld make the battle feilds more diverse and immersive

The trouble is in winter I would just retire to my manse because there is too much snow and the cold air combined with my heavy steel suit aggravates my old war wounds. So I would just relax and collect taxes from the poor peasants until spring when I will die on the battlefield for the king.

season effects affecting prices is a great idea, cool

I have some others,

What about seasoning events when we could gather herbs to prepare healing concoctions (see this thread http://taleworlds.com/v-web/bulletin/bb/viewtopic.php?t=3336).

Or when at a certain cave or mountain we could find like wyvern eggs (if such stuff ever be implemented), or other cool stuff. Those eggs for ex. we could take care so such wyverns could become like pets to help in battle or as mountry. The point is, they could only be found at that season and place, and after a hard battle .

I don't even know what a 'wyvern' is, but I know it will only be in the game if someone mods them. And since you call them pets, I doubt they can be modded, because we can't add animations. This game is going for realism. Healing salves and familiars are not realistic.

A wyvern is a reptile somewhere betwwen a dragon and a komodo dragon. Would defenitely not be in the game since there won't be magic, and it's mythological.
