Weapons Breaking

I did a search and the only thing I found on this was the issue of lances shattering.  I was wondering if it would be cool if M&B simulated things a little more by having weapons break in combat.  Having a back up weapon, and taking weapons from dead bodies would make the game a little more interesting.  At the end of battle, your weapon would be repaired, just like your shield.  This would take a lot of work and really, really change the way combat resolves, but I was wondering if anyone else thinks it would be enjoyable.  Hmm... can a mod do this?

I especially like the idea of picking up dead people's weapons during battle. That way you could kill the guy with the great lance, grab it, jump on his charger and start couched-lancing people  :grin:.

Or you could grab a huge greatsword and go chop chop chop....  :twisted:  :twisted:  :twisted:

 
Yeah, maybe for M&B II.  The more I think about it, the more I realize this is an absolute pipe dream.  At this point in development it would change the game too much, and also be a lot of work.  Still, a medieval combat game where you have to be careful about when/how you use your weapons would be cool.  You definately don't want to parry that axe polearm with your sword.  :wink:

It has been discussed before, several times. I don't want my lances beaking, I know it's realistic but it's a bit of a hassel, though i wouldn't mind leaving a corpse with a lance through it  :twisted:

It's been brought up and discussed nearly to death.  Though I like the idea of my broken weapons being regenerated at the end of battle like used arrows do.  I would support it if that happened, but yea, I think it may be something that requires more coding than can be put in at this time.  Well, for M&B 2 I'll look foward to making a weapon-breaker for multiplayer games.  *cackles* bet that'll make me popular.
