The weight variable in weapons, what does it change?

I want to know:

1- If it changes swinging speed.
2- What unit it's in? An arming sword weights 1.5, but i checked and type XIII (Oakeshott's) swords (which are arming swords) had 90cm long blades (aprox), and weight about 1.1kg nowadays. Sure, steel is used now, but steel is mainly composed of iron (which was used at the time). So i'm guessing it's kg * x?

Yeah, metric system is more clear to me (since i've been aducated with it...) but maybe not for english and americans. Anyways, thanks. But does it influence swing speed?

I think it just adds to the total weight the character is bearing, and so only affects the players running speed.
Could be wrong though. (IMO why would you need weight to change speed, when you could just change the speed yourself to allow for it?).

Ideally the weight of the weapon should affect the speed and the number of consecutive swings that could be made.  Obviously that would be unpopular with 2 handed hammer and axe swingers.  IMO it is ridiculous to be able to swing a 14 pound hammer like an umbrella.

I vaguely recall hearing that it effects the time you're stunned after blocking something (i.e. light weapon parrying heavy weapon = long stun) but I might be thinking of a different game.  Could be worth checking out as long as you're testing stuff

Yes, it affects the stun. If you parry a greatsword hit with a short sword, you have to wait before you can attack again.
