Weapon Speed Ratings - how do these work?

I'm a bit puzzled with these weapon speeds. I've looked at the weapons and I can see which is a fast one or which is a slow one, but it's only through a comparison between weapons. The number scale associated with the weapon seems very arbitrary - they hover around 100, some a little slower, some a little faster.

Does anyone know how this equates to the in-game play exactly? Howe much faster is a speed 102 weapon to a speed 95 weapon?

How did you get that?!  :???:

(102 / 95) * 100 will give you the percentage.

Edit
Although the answer might be, the 102 speed weapon is an extra 7% faster than the 95 speed weapon, rather than 107% faster.....  This is of course unless Taleworlds use a different calculation.... they may use the difference between the two weapons in their calculations...etc ?

Ah alright, so... it's about 7.3% percent faster when you swing?

Or would you have to subtract 107.36842105263157894736842105263%  by 93.137254901960784313725490196078% which would equal , 14.23116615067079463364293085653%, which would be about 14.2%.

EDIT: Oh, there's your edit, about thirty-eight seconds after my post too.

Could do.... although I must admit I'm stumped as to where you got the value of 93.13... from?

Well from what I read, I assume you'd do this:

(95/102) * 100, which equals, 93.137254901960784313725490196078

This will give you the percentage of how much slower the 95 weapon is.

Hmm... then how would you get the calculation in another way? I'm curious because I'm having a math exam next week, so if I can't get this much I'm probably gonna get screwed over.

Because we are finding the percentage of the faster weapon...

For example, if I have $102 and you have $95, then to found out the percentage of how much more money I have, then I divide 102 by 95 and then multiply it by 100, which tells me that I have 107% of the money you do.

If you wanted to find out what the percentage of your money is compared to mine, then you would divide $95 by $102, multiply it by 100 and then you would have 93% of the total money I do.

 But it makes since to me, I think I get it. However, I don't even think that's one of my units this semester... oh well, getting ahead of the class is good too!

I understand the maths you are doing, but, you are making a big assumption that it is a linear scale.

If say a speed of 100 equals a 1 second swing, then a speed of 105 would have a swing of what length exactly? 0.95 seconds? Just five hundredths of a second faster? I can't see this being true, it seems too small a difference. And this changes further if the speed of a 100 doesn't equal 1 second, say 0.5 seconds....

I have a feeling that the speed rating uses arbitrary points on a scale, with each point giving a specific set swing time, each point a set amount faster than the previous point.

I'm surprised this has never been worked out, as it affects the game considerably.

Getting ahead of the class is always good.

As I'm saying above, this is just my two cents, maybe if you posted your question in the modding forum someone might actually know the details of the calculation the program uses?

Remember that proficiency plays a large role in how fast you swing a weapon.

So just because you're going up against someone with a slightly slower weapon does not mean you will swing faster, it depends on your faction/class.

Sorry Bogan, I wasn't specifically dismissing your maths  I just stopped reading the intimate detail of all the posts.

I suppose I was hoping for a definitive answer, maybe even from someone close to the dev team, on how it works.
