Weapon Skill Ups are way to slow

I got to say the skill up speed for weapons skills is ridiculously slow. I couldn't for the life of me understand how every enemy enemy I tried to fight could attack so fast then it hit me, even Tier 2-3 units have 60-80 weapons skill starting. Me on the other hand, I am 25-30 hours in and only using two weapon types, 1-hand which is at 68 and Polearm which is at 66. I have in fact only gained 28 and 26 skill ups respectively since I started play. Holy Hell they are taking a long time.

Riding and Athletics also take forever. I have been riding a horse this whole time and my skill is only 46.

Seriously, I have a town and a castle, my Clan is tier 3 and I have less skill than a Tier 2 Imperial Trained Infantryman. The rate for these skills need to be at least doubled.

:\ I find it quite balanced actually. I just started a new campaign and not even halfway to tier 2 clan I have 40 riding skill. Are you using the focus points correctly? You cannot level a skill after a certain point if not skill points are used in the corresponding area or you have no focus points invested. I use the standard polearm you start with as well not even 3 hours in and I have almost 40 skill from 15...Are you fighting your battles? Using send troops does not level these skills. because you are not in the battle(I assume.) As for tournaments they are rather short and you would have to farm a lot. It's not like they don't go...Those troops at tier 3 or 4 are level 20-60 your probably only level 8? or 9? Just level up some more.

I feel like if they enabled xp gain in arena/tournaments it would help a bit. I managed to reach character level 12 and 100ish in a couple of my core skills - but only with 5 focus points in the skills and 20+ hours of gameplay. I don't see the highest tier perks in the skill tree ever being reached (especially at this point with the whole faction snowballing situation, but ofc that's a separate problem).

If your proficiency goes up to slow in the 50-100 area the reason is simple. You have too few focus points and too low attributes. With 5 attribute and 5 focus points you will have a multiplicator of 13x-9x in that range and way higher below that.
Reaching 50 without any focus or only low focus is pretty doable for all weapons reasonably fast. 50-75 will also seems to be good enough in terms of dealing damage and accuracy.
There are issues of course. Riding for example: It is best leveled, it seems, to be stationary and hit looters with a bow from 40m away. A group of 7 looters will regularly still give me +1- +3 Riding even though I am at 105 already. The same match will only net me +1 or +2 in Bow. Hitting them while I am at full speed and low range however does not seem to do nearly as much. Also killing high level troops (or hitting them) should grant much more XP.
.
Long story short, if you want to get "good" in combat fast, you need the focus points to do it. If you created a character with focus on non-combat skills you will take longer to reach even lower thresholds beyond 50. This is the way the level system works. No more "eierlegende Wollmilchsäue" as we germans say, meaning no more "jack of all trades".
