How about having a short paragraph under the stats describing each usable item and how it is used? It would add a fair bit of flavour to the game and make it easier for new players to pick up.

had better be real world.

In caldarea, the javelins obviously have that little toy whistle inside them to make the throwing sound -but I don't want to read about *that*!!!

How to use watered steel scimitar: slash the sword from the left to the right and vica versa.
How to use a balanced Sword of War: slash the sword from the left to right and vica versa.
How to use the arming sword: slash the sword from the left to the right and vica versa.

Damnit, I was actually going to make a post like this today. It's a good idea.

Here's a short sample of what I think they could look like:

Khergit bow: The favoured weapon of the Khergit raiders. This weapon has a slight recurve which gives it the power and range of a longbow, while still being small enough to be used on horseback. The khergit horse archers make devastating use of this bow on the open steppes, peppering the enemy from afar and then fleeing from direct combat.

Basically it would outline the features of the weapon and explain how it is used in the game world. In any case weapon descriptions would be a nice step towards fleshing the game out some more. I wouldn't limit them to weapons and armour either. Every item could have a description. It would definitely be cool reading about why spices are so valuable, or how warhorses are trained and armoured for combat. There could also be descriptions for troops, explaining "historical" details like where they come from and what equipment and tactics they use. That would certainly help when I'm figuring out which upgrade path to choose.

sure if you want to write them all. I jsut think the developers could spend their time doing other more important things.

Oh, I love this idea. It would add so much flavour and depth to the game.

I actually think something like that would be a very efficient use of time - it's not *that* hard to put together a short description of an item, and there's not really *that* many different items in M&B. Besides, this is exactly the kind of things the devs could "outsource", ie ask someone else (like a eloquent community member) to do for free, if they don't feel like doing it themselves.

You forgot about thrusts and overhead chops . The part about how it is used is mainly for weapons like lances, where not all of it is obvious.

Let's make a team and have desc. prepped for armagan to collect. When's his b-day anyway?

Actually, for copyright reasons (as well as to maintain a general tidyness) I seriously doubt he would accept general submissions. However, there's no reason a single person, or a small number, at least, could contribute as long as they agree to consider it unpaid "work for hire", or something to that effect, voiding all claims to the material.
I'm not sure I'd ever consider it very likely to happen, just mentioned it as a possibility.
