After literally fighting hundreds of battles we seriously need a chance war trophy drop after battles kind of like Viking Conquest had. I’m bored to death of the junk that drops currently, loot needs an overhaul and war trophies would be a good addition with banners coming to battles soon.

For example if a standard bearer falls during battle there is a chance that you will get a banner war trophy. In Viking Conquest you could sell your war trophies and get xp and gold.

I believe there were 3 types of war trophies in Viking Conquest:

-Banner
-War Horn
-Gold Bars

This is how you would turned your War trophies in.

So should Bannerlord have war trophies or are you guys content with arm wraps after a 1500 vs 1500 battle?

It might have some flavor to it, but in gameplay terms it isn't any different from your regular ol' loot. The way I see it, it would be nice in the beginning, but after your 100th battle where you get those trophies you stop treating them as trophies but as just another source of money.

In Viking Conquest war trophies gave experience and gold when redeemed. So it is different and more rewarding that the Player can get xp which sets it apart. A gold bar drop in VC could be enough xp to make that next level, when you reach level 26 even with the current system things slow way down. These drops could add xp to your overall level which whould be nice late game when leveling gets slow. These would be random and would be a nice way to spice up the current loot system with something that works and has a proven track record from VC.

I don't know what kinda 1500 vs 1500 battles you're fighting but I get loot worth so much I can buy out entire towns.

Yeah you get lots of junk, not really about value although gear is probably overpriced in this game. War trophies are more about XP drops.

the problem isn't the accumulated value of all the loot you get but that it's all vendor trash, they could just give you money and it wouldn't make a difference the way it is now.

You never get any good piece that you can say "wow after such a large battle this is awesome! much better than what i have"

In warband you got a lot of vendor trash aswell but you had the chance of getting good gear and it was awesome when it happened.

But the only difference this suggestion makes is that aside from money you also (completely arbitrarily) get xp from it... You still sell it as vendor trash all the same...

I think instead of this a better way of doing it would be to give AI Lords their own unique weapon, much like what the player can make at the smithy. Have there be a relatively low chance for it to drop after a Lord is defeated/captured and it being a named weapon, have it be high in value should the player sell it. Should the player opt to keep it, be it as their own weapon or just in an inventory it could be some sort of passive reknown bonus (prolly not reknown though seeing as it doesn't really matter in BL other than party tier. Maybe influence?) And lastly give the option of returning it to the Lord for a relations + honour bonus.
Prolly just wishful thinking tho

+1

I love this idea so much. It would give the lords in the game a bit more character, especially after you defeat them. And could set up neat story lines where you kill a lord with his own sword you got from capturing him.

There is a (very small) chance of getting good loot to drop in Bannerlord. It used to be more common but the dev responsible nerfed it into the ground and made everything you get broken if it went beyond a certain value for the battle's size/importance. Still, I got cataphract's armor to drop a few times in a playthrough.

(Also, everything is vendor trash after early game because you get/buy end-game viable stuff really easily.)

Yeah, that would be a good idea.

Any symbol of authority would do, a piece of armor, a sword, a banner, a crown...

The game could grant/remove influence and change relationship values based on rivalries and friendships when the item changes hands and recovering symbols could also be used as a modifier when selecting siege targets or declaring wars. The symbols could also be used for barters and gifts.

The current system is probably a placeholder as they can do so much better than heaps of broken junk. Some really great ideas so far!

Things that can be done with War Trophies in Bannerlord

Banners Captured - Bonus XP/Influence
Legendary Weapon Drops - If Lord dies in battle they drop their unique weapon like a noble sword that many carry
If a King is captured - King's Ransom (large sum like 10-20K)

Noble swords look awesome, but commiting to smithing is a hassle and really limits your character build options. Not too mention the system is completely broken and you can make millions like nothing. Having noble swords drop at the death of a character is a good way to get noble swords into the hands of non-smithing characters.

Yes! Also a lot more realistic, im not really in favor of random drops, but unique weapons would be very nice. Also nice for late game content, to catch them all, outlive the other faction leaders and snatch up their weapons.

It would be nice and its a good idea but Taleworlds will not add anything extra to their existing plans for the game. They will 'finish' the game as they see it ... and then just release. Without extras or new additions.

So, yet again, this is a cool idea...... but one for the modders.

Don't be such a doomer, it just drags the conversation down.

As a sidenote I'd like to add, in Warband, after you capture a holding in which a Lady of the enemy realm resides, usually the wife/daughter of whichever lord's castle you just took, would stay there in your new keep and upon opening dialogue with them you'd have the option to let them return home or keep them there as a form of house-arrest PoW.
Its a very small thing but it adds a lot of flavour.
Inb4 I get warning points for objectifying women by comparing them to war trophies

I wouldn't mind being able to hang the heads of each noble I kill onto my horse's barding.

Is that the kind of trophy we're thinking?

Maybe a necklace made of ears?

Along with the accompanying morale penalty for my opponents, seeing their former lord's head coming charging towards them. Maybe we could also give them paper crowns just like that worn by Richard, Duke of York while his head was hung on his city gates... to symbolise their failed aspirations for royalty.

In Bannerlord, that wife was probably killed or wounded on the ramparts defending the holding. Her head is probably now hung above the gate of your new city.

Something like this would be pretty interesting to see via a comeback. If they do add it back in, I hope they take the chance to do a bit more with it.
