Purpose of..
The Warband : War of the Ring Rolepalying-Campaign is to and always will be provide an immersion experience for the FoA community to relive and enjoy Tolkien's fictional world of Middle-Earth.

Our goal being to provide an immersion experience of Middle-Earth we must stress that focus will not be on combat. Combat is a tool to bring to light a more memorable experience in our remade world of Middle-Earth and should be treated so Players who come here seeking only points on the scoreboard will be removed from our community with little warning. Battlefields will be treated with the utmost realism and players will make sure their characters act accordingly.

We do not require players to be exquisite writers or veteran roleplayers, but they should always approach the War of the Ring with the knowledge that this is a Roleplaying-Campaign.

Hail and welcome to the project thread for the Warband online roleplaying-campaign, War of the Ring. There has been a good deal of work to set the foundation of this project and there is still a good deal of work to do before we will reach our completion goal.

The campaign will be an immersive roleplaying campaign where players will create a character and join a fellowship which can take part in military conquests and epic quests to decide the fate of Middle-Earth. The first  chapter of the campaign will be based around the lands south of Minas Tirith and include two factions that fellowships may side with - all played out on our multiplayer Warband servers.

You do not have to join [FoA] to take part, create fellowships, or create characters in the campaign. All you have to do is register on our forums and create a character to begin your adventure today. We invite all clans and players to come and make fellowships to fight for the fate of Middle-Earth.

A great deal of work is still needed before our campaign goes live. If you are talented in mapping, modding, or have any other skill that may be of use please visit our forums if you wish to join our development team. This task is far to much for the team we have now. Please contact me if you have any questions or would like to contribute in some way to the project. Register on our forums now and begin your preparations for the final battles of the Third Age retold by You.

We hope that by focusing on small sections of Middle-Earth we can advance slowly towards our final goal and not become overwhelmed in the process, while at the same time providing an unparalleled immersion experience to Middle-Earth. Will your character be there when the shadow awakes? Will your character be there when the black gates open? Will your character be there when all the world if aflame and no hope remains? Will your character be chosen to bear a burden that I have not the courage to say?

Sounds nice, but... do you think you can/got enough people do that?
As I couldn't see your forums without registering, I can't judge if your
fellowship can work this out, but at least I wish you can/will!
Good luck!

I took a look trough your forum, it seems you have some big ideas, wonder if they are makable. For example, you have your two systems, the war of the ring one, with the big battles right? And then you have the fellowship questing one, right? As i've understood, the big battles will be played in warband, but the questing aswell?

The battles, you want two camps wich cannot be entered by the enemy team right? And in these camps you cna buy health equipment and so on?

The scenes, you need alot of new scene props if you are to create the cities of middle earth.

Fellowships, i haven't fully understood the system of fellowships and character development you are aiming for, but for the character development, seems impossible, unless you restrict it to honorable deeds recorded on the forum or something.

So if you die in a skirmish, your character is pretty much permanently dead right?

The fellowship of Arda area of the forums is strictly for Tolkien community use and regards text roleplaying and a discussion of his works. Our forums host more than just the Warband campaign. As for server side, there will be two game modes. TBE, or battlefield which acts similar to a team deathmatch with a ticket value that is deducted by one per each player and bot death, and Q&D or a roleplaying server which hosts no battlefields.

As for the actual maps we only wish to have a few completed for the first part and none of them should be of extreme difficulty. Concepts of Middle-Earth have not always been as magnificent as Peter Jackson's trilogy - and in the same manner maps do are not placed at an impossible scale that we can not accomplish.

Character development is rather simple - we are roleplayers not players playing a RPG, if that connects to anyone who has not roleplayed. We do not focus on stats but rather on personal accomplishments and enjoyment. Your character begins with no influence or reputation in Middle-Earth and has the free will to do whatever he wishes. There will be a point system that grants fellowships small bonuses on battlefields but nothing complicated - the rest is all roleplaying accomplishments.

People here don't seem intrested, maybe you should try your luck on the Multiplayer board, or maybe the Clan board.

This looks highly interesting. I'm not the biggest LotR fan out there, but I would like to see this mod muchly. However, I don't see a need for you to stand on your own feet too much. TLD will be porting their mod eventually, and there's already another LotR mod in prgoress (though it might be focusing more on the movies). My suggestion is to work together with other LotR mods, to make a very impressive multi-player campaign.

Wonder if they will help these guys... Ah well, you going for a book or movie inspired version?
